Blizzard Beach Attire

We are going to BB for the 1st time. Do you have to wear only a bathing suit on all of the water slides? Or can you wear some type of shorts or T-Shirt over your bathing suite? I would really prefer not to have to walk around all day in just a bathing suit, but if I have to I will (oh, the things we do for our children!). I know you can't wear anything with metal on it, but what about shorts made out of bathing suit material?

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

I think shorts made out of bathing suit material are acceptable, but don't quote me on that. I'm pretty sure I've seen people on slides wearing more than a bathing suit...

But keep this in mind...the more you're wearing, the more there is to head into wedgieville on a body slide!!! LOL Sad, but true.

As long as there is no metal I don't think you will have any problems. I saw people there in a variety of attire, from skimpy bathing suits to shorts and T-shirts.

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

Thanks, that makes me feel better about going! I just found a pair of shorts made out of bathing suit material that will match my bathing suit perfectly. That sure would make me feel much more comfortable.

Don't forget the sunblock!Depending on the time of year you go,the sun gets pretty intense. You can rent lockers if you don't want to carry a bunch of stuff around with you. You'll love BB. It's our favorite water park.Have Fun!

The sunblock is the top thing on our list! Since we are going to BB the day after we get there, we don't want to have a sunburn for the rest of our trip. That Florida sun - gotta love it!!

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

Disneyfever, I figure I'll give you my little "must-have" list for going to BB. I'm a waterpark fanatic, but I've made myself miserable before by forgetting one of the important items!

*Sunblock (with a HIGH SPF! Obviously you've got that one covered. But once I made the mistake of grabbing SPF 4 tanning stuff as we ran out the door...I reapplied after EVERY SLIDE, and I was still a lobster for the rest of the week!)

*A very comfortable swimsuit (give yourself some room to swell. Between the heat, sunblock & sweat, that "perfect" swimsuit may feel pretty tight halfway through the day!)

*Your own towel (preferably a distinctive one; it helps in claiming your chairs. With those nondescript BB towels, anyone can claim it was "their chair first.")

*water shoes or flip-flops (sometimes I use them, sometimes I don't. At TL I usually find them a pain because you have to take them off and hold them on every slide, but at BB there is so much exposed pavement I usually can't live without them!)

*a waterproof camera (you'll find yourself snapping LOTS of pictures this way, whereas the most pictures I have from any water park trip is a total of 3, which I carefully snapped with my expensive camera. I swear, next time I won't forget a waterproof one! It's worth the $8 before you leave home!)

*a plastic bag (if you plan on changing before you leave. I forgot a bag once, and my swimsuit soaked through everything...including my backpack...and left a puddle on the bus floor! If you are waiting to change, bring an extra towel to put under your butt for the ride home.)

*snack foods (swimming always makes me ravenous! By the time we leave, even a granola bar is like heaven! Even if we're headed for a big dinner, I usually bring a small snack to dispel the monster that is my stomach. )

*extra hair ties for anyone with long hair (One time at TL, my best friend braided my hair in two cute pigtails...one SWOOSH in the wave pool, and both rubber bands snapped! I had to walk around with my hair plastered down my back...all the way to my butt...and deal with it getting in the way all day!)

*a water bottle (or buy one at the park. Running to find drinking fountains all day long can get exhausting, so keeping a water bottle under your chair is a blessing.)

I guess that's all I can think of!! I just LOVE water parks! I hope you have a blast at BB!!!

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

Dznygrl, thanks for all the great tips! You mentioned a few things that I had never thought of. Do you bring a small cooler with you? We were thinking of bringing one to use for our drinks.

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

I have seen LOTS of coolers at both water parks. I think it's a good idea for a family. For $10 you can also get a refillable mug to use all day. We buy one and share it.

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

DisneyTeacher, I didn't know they sold refillable mugs at BB. That would be a good deal, especially if we share it! I think we will bring the cooler and put some drinks & small snacks in there. We'll still eat lunch at the park, but it will save us some money to not have to buy everything there.

I can't believe people wear skimpy bathing suits on waterslides. That's just asking to flash everyone!!!

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

Also, make sure you scope out a shady spot that is pretty central to everything. The shady spots go fast!!!! Lay a towel on as many chairs as people to save them while you are gone. Be forwarned....it may not be crowded around your chairs when you first arrive but when you return for a bit, there may be wall to wall people. Make sure you kinda spread your chairs out to give you enough room.

Also, make sure you wear water shoes or flip flops. If not while you are walking around the park, but definately if you have to use the restrooms. All I have to say on that one, yuk!

Have a blast!!!!

Re: Blizzard Beach Attire

Disneyfever,

My DW was able to find a swimsuit where the bottom looks very much like a pair of shorts. She says it's quite comfortable and it covers well, without looking like she's Amish.

*My apologies to any Amish people using a computer to plan their next WDW trip!*

Caver too funny. But it's true there are a lot of swimsuits that you can get now a days with seperate tops and bottoms and you can get some that look like shorts or longer shorts or reg bottoms

LOL I don't think you'll have much problem with that!

Disneyfever--you're welcome for the list. I've only been to BB and TL a few times, but somehow I always think of something new to add to the list that would make the trip extra convenient. I have not brought a cooler before, but I would DEFINITELY consider it! I've never spent more than half a day at a water park, but I plan on spending full days there in the future and a cooler is a great idea!!
