Illuminations

For Xmas I was given a Disney Trivia book with many amazing facts. I want to share one that amazes me:

Disney spends approx. $35,000 each night on the firework for Illuminations. That means for 1 year they spend approximately 12.8 million dollars for these fireworks!

That is alot of money!!!

OMG! That's a lot of cash. If they want to cancel one night and send the money my way, I won't argue kidding of course. Like buzz said. It just shows you that they go top of the line to give you that disney experience....love it!

We've haven't stayed to see the show for a while. I always have a hard time finding a good spot. Any tips? I am going to try again in April for my 11yr. old DD
Thanks,

Re: Illuminations

Try in front of the UK pavilion,if there aren't any private parties. Also, the Mexican fast food place is a good spot.

Re: Illuminations

We were in the back by the American Pavilion and we had plenty of room. It's probably less crowded back there because it's as far away from the Main Entrance as you can get. We were staying at the BW so we just left through the other gate by France.

Another great place is the stairs at Mitsukushi *cringes at how much I butchered the spelling of that*

Re: Illuminations

It's staggering when you think about these things:

How much does WDW spend in light bulbs each year?
How much in chlorine for the swimming pools, water parks, and fountains?
How much do they spend on plants?
How much in fireworks for all the parks?
How many rolls of TP?

It's mind boggling, and yet I still find the prices to be more reasonable than a movie ticket!

Re: Illuminations

Is that the trivia book I saw at Amazon? I was thinking about buying it, but can't tell if it's out-dated or not.

The book that I have (and got this fact out of) is:

The Walt Disney World Trivia Book by Louis Mongello. It is copyright 2004 so it is very current. Much of what is in there as trivia, I knew but quite a bit, I did not.

Re: Illuminations

Thanks to all who shared the good spots to see Illuminations
and to CathysCAT: I'll be wearing my Disney Central Pin! I have dark hair and glasses and I will be with DH and DD who looks older than her 11yrs.

Hopefully, I will have a margarita in my hand and a big smile on my face.
