Disney radio at wdw

Does anyone remember disneyradio...you know, that station you would turn on when you entered the property to hear all about new rides or parades...and they had the characters (mickey, goofy etc.) do the talking...it was soooo great...and then suddenly, they got rid of it!?! what happened?

Radio Disney used to be at Disney Studios...we met BB Good there last year. The sign on the door says they have moved the radio studios to Texas now.

well this isn't the kids bop station I am talking about...I mean it was just an Orlando station that didn't play songs...just told you information...but it was a lot of fun!!

I remember that station. It was on the AM band, I think, and they had signs on the way into the property that gave the station address. I remember the classic Disney World voice (Jack Wagner? best known for the [now gone

] monorail voiceover) providing standard information, as well as the characters. I was a kid in the back of our station wagon back then, and when I heard that station, I knew we were finally close to MK!

I know what you're talking about. I used to love hearing Pooh talk about Disney as I watched Mickey pop up on those purple road signs. Ahhh the good old days...

Hmmm...I never knew that station existed!

But I know the one Angie is talking about...does anyone know all the areas where that station is broadcast to? The one that plays the teenybop songs?? Will we be able to get it when we move back to California?

If anyone couldn't tell just by my avatar...yep, I like teenyboppers.

They should absolutely still have that AM channel. What is the cost to run canned messages on a low-amp station? Next to nothing. What a great way to bring Disney right into your car as you approach the parks.

dznygrl, if you're talking about RadioDisney, it is on our Sirius satellite radio system (which we really like--great for long road trips). I think they still have regular stations scattered about as well.

On their website, there is a spot you can click call My Station. I suppose if you know where you are moving you can put that town name in and see if you have a station.
