Watch out for those birds at Epcot they like to steal food

Hi.

During my nice stay at WDW, I decided to eat my way through the World Showcase. I had a glass of wine and then decided to get a funnel cake. As I was walking towards a patio area, one of the large white birds flew down and stole my funnel cake and took off with it. I couldn't believe it. I am sure the lady thought that I was a pig when I went back 25 sec later and got another one.

So if you are at the World Showcase and walking around with food watch where your going.

Oh man, those seagulls are horrible this time of year! they should be gone by your May trip! I heard about a guy who was walking along eating a hot dog and the seagull swooped down and grabbed it right out of the bun!

The seagulls are the reason that we always pack an extra shirt for all of us in the backpack....just in case we get "bombed!" (which has happened to hubby twice!)

BDavis932,

I never thought of the other problem, but I had powder sugar all over my black windbraker.

Thanks Jason... I've heard some serious horror stories about those birds! I am definitely going to keep that in mind.

dznygrl,

No problem. I just want everyone to be aware so they don't run into this themselves.

Re: Watch out for those birds at Epcot they like to steal food

We watched a seagull grab a hotdog right out of a little boy's hand this year at MK. I felt a swooshing coming toward my back, he swooped down right in front of me and grabbed the hotdog of the little kid walking in front of me. It was such a shock. The poor little guy started crying and it kind of shook me up too. It was so fast!

This is the reason I eat my meals indoors most of the time at WDW. Seagulls are like that everywhere. You should see the swoop and steals they do at the jersey shore. I seen more pretzels and hot dogs stolen than you can imagine. I even seen one swoop and steal a slice of pizza once.

Re: Watch out for those birds at Epcot they like to steal food

Don't I know it!! I had just started in on a yummy sandwich at Electric Umbrella during Mousefest when the group I was with left our tables to take a group picture. It took a few minutes to get the "right shot" and by the time I returned, my sandwich was in pieces all over the table and ground.

All I could do was sigh and know that I wouldn't be eating THAT sandwich.

I went back to the food counter and asked if I could have a "replacement" which I got with no questions asked. I'm not if sure the CM was just used to hearing that request because the naughty birds are often so, uh... naughty, or if he just was afraid to say no to a woman that was crying over lunchmeat and coleslaw.

I promise, I don't usually find sadness in a sub roll. We'll just chalk it up to a bad day...and some very naughty birds.

The CM's always replace food that the seaguls get from their guests....they rock that way. Those birds are such a problem there.
