park lockers

Has anyone used the park lockers to store stuff? Just wondering how big they are and if it's worth the $7.00 (including $2 deposit, according to Unofficial Guide).
Thanks!

Re: park lockers

Yes it's worth it. You'll be surprised how much you can fit in them. On occassion we had to upgrade to a large one. Especially the days we brought a change of clothes for the water rides.

Thanks. General size of the not upgraded one? (We have a small cooler/backpack we're thinking of bringing and want to make sure it will fit.)

We were with another family and had two sacks in one small locker at time. I would say about 1' X 1' by 2' deep. They look almost like the picture. Each park may differ slightly.

Re: park lockers

I am just wondering what you have that you might need to put in a locker. If you are staying onsite they will send anything you buy back to your resort for you.

Re: park lockers

I say it's definately worth it. When I go with my family, we bring a backpack with changes of clothes, and other things that we don't need to lug around all day. We also usually put the camera bag in there, since I take the camera itself plus extra film or cards with me.
Plus, you get most of the money back anyway - so why not?

That's pretty much what we had in mind. Plus a few snacks that we don't want to carry around with us.
(If we buy anything we'll have that shipped directly to the resort.)

Can't wait for Monday!!!!

Re: park lockers

I have used the park lockers often. I mostly use it on my MGM day when I intend to stay for the entire day with no resort break mid day. I am someone who likes to be prepared for everything, but hates to tour the parks carrying a ton of stuff around like a pack mule. I will take a tote bag with sweatshirts, sun screeen, etc film and stuff liket that. I store that bag in the locker and tour with only a waist pack. If I need anything, I only have to go back to the locker and get it. It may be cooler in the morning forcing me to wear a sweatshirt. If it warms up, I can store the sweatshirt. I think it's worth the $5 that it ends up costing after you get your deposit back. I like the hands-free touring and that to me is worth paying for a locker. If I intend to take a mid-day break which is usually, I don't get a locker. I ALWAYS get a locker on my last day there because I usually have a ton of stuff that I end up buying on my last day. I am not running around a park carrying that. It was easier when my DD required a stroller because I could hang the stuff around the handle or whatever, but now that she is on her own, I get stuck carrying everything....wow I'm rambling today. Anyway, the lockers were able to handle my big WDW tote bag, coats and my DD's stuffed penquin. I could have easily fit more, so to answer your question, they are big.

Re: park lockers

We used one on our last trip to store our 4 thick adult-sized sweatshirts. They all fit and we probably could have squeezed in a few more. The $5 is a great deal, as opposed to hauling all your stuff around all day.

Also, don't forget that if you keep your receipt, you can park hop and move your stuff from one park's locker to another park's, without paying twice. :)

Re: park lockers

The lockers are great for the chillier months. We used one each day of our Dec. trip last year to store a change of clothes and other items we didnt necessarily need at hand. I kept a small sling-type bag for sunscreen, camera, ponchos, etc. with me. Loved the hands-free touring, as Dana said.

Re: park lockers

I have rented a locker at MK before.
I carry alot of junk, change of clothes, dd's costume, etc... and I dont want to lug it all around in my backpack, my shoulders KILL at the end of the day!
I do the $7.00 lockers and they are fine, and you get the $2 back.
I think it's well worth it than to have sore shoulders/neck/back!!

Ohhh!! I rented also at TL.
there you have no choice, you need to store your stuff somewhere to go on the rides. It was the same deal I believe.
They also rent towels there if you dont want to lug a wet towel home.

Re: park lockers

We rented lockers at TL and BB, not at the major parks though. The lockers were a decent size at the water parks. When we returned the key, we got a souvenir mug (same size as the resort mugs). We wound up coming home with 5 mugs. Perfect for cold drinks in the summer time:)
