Re: BAD news concerning Carousel of Progress

This just sets a fire under me! I've ridden CoP only a small amount of times, but I'm horrified about getting rid of it! I love that ride so much! It may not have thrills and chills, but it does have heart and sentiment, and isn't a mixture of the different sides good? I can understand some updates..hey, some improvements on the building (and maybe a PUSH for it, you barely even know it's there) would be nice. I'm all up for updating things, but scrapping it? That's just dumb.

Re: BAD news concerning Carousel of Progress

I just don't understand, I love it, DW loves it, 26-year old DD loves it, and 15-year old DD loves it! We can't be that different from the rest of the WDW population!

Let's face it--nostalgia is a big part of WDW, just look at Main Street (or even Tomorrowland). CoP is the ultimate in nostalgia.

To make matters worse, I recently found out that a deal was with the Disney theme parks by the Disney family after Walt's death, that Carousel of Progress was to stay open permanently, and nothing was to happen to it (like getting demolished). Sadly, it appears that Michael Eisner's agenda is to directly violate and/or disregard each and every such order made by the Disney family like that one, and/or Walt's wishes.

I'm beginning to think that the April Fool's joke about a statue to Eisner is a good idea.

Was there an April Fool's joke about a Michael Eisner statue in the parks? First I've ever heard!

Yeah, there was. It might not have been on this site though. I can't remember where I read it, but I know I did.

Yeah, it was on this site. Mickey posted a thread about that as his annual April Fools' Joke.

Dude, if what Kent says is true about there being a deal with the Disney family regarding the CoP, then demolishing it is even sicker than I thought. Unbelievable.

Re: BAD news concerning Carousel of Progress

There is, I believe, a petition on CoP's web site (www.carouselofprogress.com, I think - sorry, don't know how to link, I'm still learning computer stuff).

You're right, Dsnygrl, it does make it even sicker. Bring Roy Disney back!!

Anyone who could think of actually demolishing Carousel of Progress, despite the Disney family's wishes, must be a pretty sick person! But then, methinks that this may be Michael Eisner's plan!
