I bet it's not. People can run faster than the train can load, leave, travel, and unload.

Yes, please do post the fastest way you know of to be the first person at Splash Mountain. I already have a goal when the rope drops, but I know my 15 year old would LOVE to be the first!!

Re: Top Magic Kingdom Tips

The first ride on the railroad usually gets there well after the first few people do, so it's definitely not the fastest.

My preference is through Adventureland...it's faster than Liberty Square/Frontierland. I know that if you take the Adventureland route, there's a shortcut...but it's been almost 2 years since I've been to WDW and I can't picture it! I keep picturing Disneyland instead, so I'm getting really confused.

Re: Top Magic Kingdom Tips

Here's what the Unofficial Guide says about a short cut:

...go to the end of Main St and turn left to The Crystal Palace. In front of the restaurant is a bridge that provides a shortcut to Adventureland. Stake out a position at the barrier rope. When the rope, drops move as fast as you can and cross the bridge to Adventureland.
Just past the first group of building on your right, roughly across from the Swiss Family Treehouse, is a small passageway containing rest rooms and phones. Easy to overlook, it connects Adventureland to Frontierland. Go through the passageway into Frontierland and take a hard left. As you emerge along the waterfront, SM is straight ahead.

Re: Top Magic Kingdom Tips

Great idea for a thread!!

My tip would be to take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour - morning. You can get so many rides in before the park fills up.
Just get there early and head off to your favorites, and plan to be done and leaving the park by around noon.
A good way to end your time after the EMH morning would be with a PS somwhere in the MK or at one of the resorts on the monorail.

Re: Top Magic Kingdom Tips

If you don't really want to look like one of the lamers by sitting around on a bench or something while waiting for your fastpass time to arrive, head over to Tomorrowland and take a few rides on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. That way, you can be relaxing, killing time, and yet still getting on the rides all at the same time.

Re: Top Magic Kingdom Tips

My tip for MK enjoyment. Maybe I'll come off as one of the "lamers" referred to in an earlier post, but my tip is: Slow down!! The attractions aren't going anywhere. Sit down, relax. Watch peoples' faces as they see Cinderella's Castle. Watch a child's face light up as they see Mickey for the first time. Get a good place to view the parade early and have a Mickey bar or some of the bakery's incredible cookies while you wait.

If all this sounds overly romantic or sentimental, too bad. Romance and sentimentality are as much a part of MK and Disney as all the attractions and the restaurants and resorts. It's a major part of the Disney mystique.

I agree, this is the fastest way to get to Splash Mountain. Although I would go to Splash Mountain, get the fastpass, and then haul buns to Fantasyland.

The race to just about any attraction is best won hoofing it. Disney transportation just isn't designed for speed. There's the waiting, the getting on, the waddling off-- I think if people are going to take this tip, they'd better just hit the top loops of their Nikes that morning..

Yes it is, but some of us only HAVE the one day at the park, and while a lot of people have the luxury of having more than that, some of us don't. Some of us only get that one day every few years to enjoy it, so we want to take advantage and maximize our experience as much as we can. Kudos to you if you can lollygag and stop to smell every flower and just laze around and soak it all up. That's wonderful! I envy you. Some of us just aren't that lucky, though.

Hehehe Jenny. I'm going to send the 15 y/o DD off to Splash Mountain to try to be the first one in line (she DID run cross-country this year and was second on her team!), because I know how she'd LOVE to brag that she was first in line (I know she'll ride that ride 3/4 times that day anyway), but *I* am gonna be in Fantasyland anyway to wake up Tinkerbell *bounce bounce bounce*

That sounds perfect! If you want to ride Spash Mountain later in the day, you might consider handing DD your park tickets after you enter so she can get fastpasses for you later on after you're done with Fantasyland.

I was just thinking about that too (it's good to have a 15 y/o who you can bribe to run around and do stuff for you LOL)

Re: Top Magic Kingdom Tips

You know, if we all coordinated a visit to MK during the same week we could work as a team to make sure we could all be rider of the day at splash mountain. The fastest runners could get ahead and start tripping the teenage competition as they run, the slowest of us could form a "lollygagging" herd to get in the way of the rest of the pack while allowing our DC teammates to get ahead...
