Has anyone else noticed . . .

Have any recent visitors to the parks noticed that the new mandatory finger scans for all ticket holders are really slowing down the lines at the entrance turnstiles?

Every time I've been to the parks since the new ticket procedures went into effect it seems to take forever to get through the turnstiles. I've noticed that more turnstiles seem to be open, but a lot of guests are having trouble figuring out what they're supposed to do.

I can only hope the situation gets better as the learning curve flattens out.

Hey Park Hopper, are you talking about the machines where you put your middle and index finger into the slot and squeeze on the rubber thingie? (lol sorry, i cant come up with a better explanation)

Yes, Biometric scans are now required for all tickets. And yes, I found they have slowed down the lines a little.

Re: Has anyone else noticed . . .

That's really stupid, and I have noticed it the past few times I've visited. I can understand why they'd want to do that for passholders, but for people w/just a 5 day ticket it's a big waste of time.

Thanks, Im slow today. lol. I have found that it takes a little longer when waiting in line to get into the parks as well. I think your right Park Hopper, that once people get used to this the line will speed up again.
I agree Jenny- why does a family visiting for the weekend have to scan their fingers?? AP and SPers I can understand, but not the average park visitor.

Re: Has anyone else noticed . . .

It did slow things down a little for us the week after Easter. Some of the machines were a little more finicky than others and if you didn't press your fingers just right, it didn't work. Sometimes I really had to squeeze them together tight and it wasn't easy! But overall, it wasn't that big of a deal.

At the time I was thinking I must be developing arthritis or something! But then I noticed others were having the same difficulty . . . Thank goodness.

Re: Has anyone else noticed . . .

I have not been to WDW since the finger scan went into effect and have some old park hoppers with days left. How does it work with old passes? Does everyone get finger scanned regardless of when their pass was bought? What if there is no finger scan on file? Are they cross-checking prints with the passess? Thanks in advance!

I DO have arthritis in my fingers - and it's no fun trying to use that thing. I never get it right, and then you hear people behind you going "Tsk"

Re: Has anyone else noticed . . .

I had now idea you had to do this with general admission tickets. Hmmm....I wonder if this is more of a security thing and they are looking for terrorists or people on wanted lists. I mean, what's the point for someone just entering for the day.

I noticed that also! But it's okay with me when the turnstiles are the longest rides in the parks!

Re: Has anyone else noticed . . .

Hmmmm....that seems like a royal pain for EVERYONE to have to do it! I wonder if they're going to start doing this at Disneyland, too? The turnstiles at DLR don't need ANY help getting clogged up, especially after DCA closes and everyone's trying to rush over to DL for the fireworks!

Gee, I'm with MizDiz on this one...it's been too long since I went to WDW! This whole finger scanning thing started since the last time I was there.

I'd do anything to be standing in a clogged-up turnstile at WDW right now though...sure beats sittin' at the computer.
