Mickey's Merry Christmas Party

We are thinking of buying tickets to the party but I have heard that it gets pretty crowded. Has anyone been? What can I expect? :)

Disneymom...I love MVMCP! There is another thread on this same subject that was pretty recent.
:) Being in the Magic Kingdom at night is reason enough to buy a ticket...not to mention the snow on main street. It is crowded, at the normal hot-spots (parades, refreshment stands, shows, and character meets) but not crowded in others (no lines on any rides).
Hope that helps!

I am going to WDW from Nov30 to Dec 5 and am also considered the MVMCP. I was just curious - are all the rides open during the party or is it like an E-ride night where only some attractions remain open? If so, what attractions are usually open for the Party? Thanks everyone!!

Karen, it is my understanding that all rides are open, though it ends up being an expensive way to ride the rides. During the party, there is a special parade, a couple of special stage shows and even snow on main street.

I went to MVMCP last year, its so cool! Yes it does get very crowded, but it is worth the experience! The snow on mainstreet, the decorations all around the park and the special parade and shows are worth going..even without going on any rides! I actually only went on space mountain and buzz lightyear when I was there, I spent the rest of the time walking around taking in the Magic Kingdom during christmas. Its ALOT of fun, but if you are going for the rides, and dont really care about the decor, I suggest not going.

Thanks Joe and Mickey! I am definitely going for the atmosphere not just the attractions. I am really excited for the parade and the snow on mainstreet especially! I was just curious about which attractions would be open so we can try and sneak some of those in while we are there. I can hardly wait. Also do you know if the party ends at midnight or 1 am? I have read different things in different places about that. Thanks for your advice!

Karen, it is supposed to run from 7 PM to Midnight, though I would guess they don't turn out the lights at midnight exactly.

Hey Karen! You are just gonna love MVMCP!! It goes from 7 to midnight, but mainstreet is open until 12:30 maybe even 1 am, so you'll still have time to shop! MVMCP is so cool, in my opinion the best themed party disney has! And you'll definitely be able to sneak a ride in or 2.
Joe:)

oops...mickey you're to fast for me!

MnM, welcome to DisneyCentral! Here is the information about the 2002 party:
Quote:
‘12 Nights of Christmas’ Light Up the Magic Kingdom

“Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party” in the Magic Kingdom returns in 2002 as the first Walt Disney World theme park celebrates more than 30 years of holidays with fireworks, parades, sweet holiday treats, special stage shows and plenty of fun for the whole family.

For 12 nights -- December 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20 -- the Magic Kingdom will “re-open” from 7 p.m.-midnight for this special event. Advance tickets are $33.95 plus tax ($23.95 plus tax for children ages 3-9). Tickets on the day of the event (if available) are $38.95 plus tax ($28.95 plus tax for children ages 3-9). Children under 3 are admitted free.

Highlights of the jolly frolic include: greetings by Santa Goofy on Main Street, U.S.A.; two showings of “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade”; a special edition of “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks; holiday cookies and cocoa; a souvenir family photo and button; strolling carolers; and two holiday stage shows featuring many of the favorite Disney characters. And it’s even been known to “snow” on Main Street, U.S.A.!

In addition to all the festive fun, guests to “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party” are able to enjoy unlimited use of the most popular Magic Kingdom attractions.

For tickets or more information about “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party,” guests may call 407/W-DISNEY.

As part of “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party,” the Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom will offer a family-style holiday meal featuring Disney characters. For more information about the dining experience, guests may call 407/WDW-DINE.

We've been twice and loved it both times. It is definitely worth the extra money especially if you have kids. Seeing it 'snow' on Main Street is so wonderful. The rides are open, lines are non existent (at least both times we were there) and they have lots of characters running around. They have special musical shows around the park too. The parade is really good and they had special fireworks. Stations were set up with hot chocolate and cookies too! The earlier you go in the season the less crowded it is and if you go on a Sunday instead of a Friday the crowds are also lighter. Remember though 'light turnout' is subjective. It will feel packed during the parades and fireworks with the later parade not as crowded.

I just got my tickets for December 1 in the mail! I can't wait! Has anyone ever done the holiday dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern as part of the Party? Is it the same menu, etc as their regular character dinner?

Karen, we are going on Dec 1 as well!

I was originally thinking of swinging over to the Grand Floridian Cafe so I could see the decorations there, but someone told me it's better to go to dinner and miss the whole "exit and reenter the park" experience.

We are also planning on going to the Spectromagic parade on Saturday night, so I was also thinking of doing LTT then... I'm rambling...

My question is, does LTT have anything special for MVMCP nights? Would we miss anything going on a Spectromagic night?

Looks like three DC members will be at the Party on Dec. 1.
We will also be their, this will be our second time to MVMCP and we can't wait.
MickeyMac have you heard that if you make dinner reservations the same night as MVMCP prior to the park closing, you do not have to leave the park and re-enter for the party. That is the way to go if true.
:)

I've read this somewhere else before. Based on this information, I made dinner reservations at the Crystal Palace for 5:30pm the evening of our MVMCP. That was as late as I could make them. I believe she said the last reservations were at 5:45.

I'm not sure what happens when you're done eating (if you have to go back to the entrance or if you just stay around the restaurant). How do you get a program for the times and places of the events to be held that evening? Has anyone done this in the past?
