El Rio Del Tempo

We enjoyed the Rio Del Tempo ride so much and really wanted to eat at San Angel Inn. I thought it would be so cool to have a table and while waiting for food ride on the boat ride. How is the food at the San Angel Inn. The atmosphere is so cool in there.

Re: Rio De Tempo

Awesome food! I bet you already figured that though. The Atmosphere is so great I'd be happy if the food was just ok, but it is great.

The lighting is low, but in a romantic night time way. Not a blind, I can't see way. May depend on where you sit also.

Re: Rio De Tempo

I wasn't too impressed with the food. It's okay but I'm not in a real hurry to go back. I guess it just depends on what your preference is for Mexican food. My entire family is from Texas and I lived there for many years up until recently myself, so I've been kind of spoiled in regards to really good Mexican food.

Pete loves the food there. However, it is so extremely dark that I had trouble reading my menu.

The food is quite good, different menu selections from what you find in most Americanized Mexican restaurants, but Alma is right -- you need a miner's hat to see what's on your plate. And there's also kind of a dank, chlorine-type smell from the treated water.

haha Alma, I agree! During a trip to Epcot in '02 my mom wanted to take her mother to eat there, what did my grandma say when she got inside the restaurant..."I don't want to eat here it's to dark, how will I know if there's a cockroach in my food!?" lol. I'm sure this is a problem thats never happened before at the San Angel Inn, but it makes a good point!

Re: Rio De Tempo

If you like hot food, ask for the cheese soup and a side order of chilis. Then slice the chilis up and put them in your soup. Terrific stuff.

Re: Rio De Tempo

Our favorite - one New Years eve, we made reservations for 12:15 A.M. and when the park was emptying, we had a nice late dinner, and then went on some attractions, I think they were open till 2:oo. It was so packed, thankfully this was BK (before kids) and we just had a great time! Request the water front seats, you may wait a bit longer,(have a drink) but it adds to the experience.
OHH so jelous right now, wish I was there!!!

Re: Rio De Tempo

I kind of like the dark. It's like sensory deprivation - not such a bad thing when you've had an overdose of the parks.
