Help with height restrictions

For those of you that have children that bordered that magic 40", how did you fare getting them on the rides? My DS is like 39 1/2-3/4 with his thick shoes, thick socks and a hat on...am I going to have him disappointed at SM, BTMRR, TT, etc... or should I not worry?

I think sometimes it comes down to the CM. Besides, you don't know how much your DS will grow between now and then!

Re: Help with height restrictions

If he is that close I bet he will grow that 1/4 before you go. I know my son is growing so fast I can't keep up with the jeans. Other than that I don't have any advice for you. However, I am pretty sure they will make him take his hat off before they measure him.

Re: Help with height restrictions

I hope he's grown by the time you make your trip. But if he hasn't it's best to explain to him before that there may be some rides he won't be able to go on. In the last little while it seems that the CM's have become very strict about height. I've seen kids measured outside, and manage to get in, only to be measured at the ride and rejected. It's better that he know about this before hand - so that he won't be disappointed. Here's hoping he grows. Buy the sneakers with the thick soles, just in case.

Re: Help with height restrictions

Last time we went in 2002, we had no problems with getting my 5 y/o JUST under 40" onto Splash Mountain. She had a BLAST.

Re: Help with height restrictions

Just remember that those rides have height restrictions for a reason. For instance, the R&R Coaster height restriction is in place because kids can get seriously hurt if they're too short for the shoulder restraints. On rides like Splash, BTMRR, and TT, I don't see how the little ones could be hurt, but just be careful... . :)

Re: Help with height restrictions

I just measured my little guy at 41 inches and only 3 weeks till trip time.
Guess I'll go with the 40 inch rides and not even attempt the Mission Space, R&RC type rides.........doen't seem safe to me at that height.

Wow Bali you took it right out of my mouth! I can't tell you how many times I've seen parents arguing w/CMs to get their kid on a ride, and I wonder if it's ever occurred to the parent that it's not safe to put a child on the ride if they aren't tall enough.

I was thinking the same thing, Safty is number one which I'm sure everyone agrees with you

Re: Help with height restrictions

DS was at about that point last trip and we did Splash with no trouble. Didn't try the others you mentioned though.

I know. It's really scary what some folks are willing to do sometimes to get their kids on a ride. I know it's dissapointing and upsetting when your child isn't quite tall enough, but sometimes, if a CM sees how upset your kid is, he might give some free fastpasses to an attraction that your child is able to ride.
