Which have you found most useful?

Which of these has helped you the most? I have heard numerous opinions on all of these (books and websites), so I figured I'd take an actual poll to see who found what most helpful when planning their vacation...

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I voted for four of them because I get different info from each. I like the specialized information like menus, resort photos and reviews, and recent event info on Allears; I LOVE the planning features and passpockets in the Passporter; I like getting input from other Disney fans on websites like Disney Central (that was "other"); and I get all the little specifics like best room numbers, ride descriptions and ratings, and best days for each park from the Unofficial Guide.

I'm also a BIG fan of Mary Waring's "Mousesavers.com" -- in fact, that's my home page. It keeps me updated on all the AP discounts!

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I have had them all over the past 4 years.
I am a big fan of the Passporter. It's full of just enough useful information, and it gives you a nice place to store notes and such for your trip reprts/memories.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I checked out a brand new copy of the Unofficial Guide from my local library... and I returned it in... let's be kind and call it less-than-new condition. For a month it rarely left my side. I found it extremely helpful and I'll buy one when when the 2006 comes out in August/September.

I've also loved allearsnet for all the resort pictures and the menus.

I voted for other becuase DC is where the most helpful information has come from. Why becuase it is interactive. Though I do love my Passporter.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I voted for passporter but was really torn between that and the unofficial guide. I chose passporter because of the pass pockets and it's other uses.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I have a sentimental spot in my heart for the "official" Birnbaum book, but as for actual helpfulness in planning a trip, I think the Passporter is better.

We usually get a copy of each prior to a trip. We look at the Birnbaum book to get us pumped up, but we use Passporter for actual nuts-and-bolts planning.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I really like Birnbaum's official guidebook. The Unofficial Guide is great as well, and it gives well-rounded opinions on all the rides, shops, resorts, and everything else you could possibly think of.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

For real critical and comprehensive review, the UG and its companion website touringplans.com are my pick. I have no experience with Passporter but hear it's good.

The web is hard to beat for "realtime" tips because guidebooks are done so far in advance. And WDW seems to be undergoing more comprehensive change this year (due to 50 year) than in a long time.

Mousesavers is best for up-to-date discounts and bargains.

But of course my overall web-pick is of course DC.

I agree with phayes, the Official Guide is chock full of pictures, colors, and graphics and is great for pumping up the kids with excitement. It's also worth the price though not as good for critical planning.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I've actually found DC to be the MOST helpful.

Allears.net is GREAT for menus

Unofficial Guide is great for an overview.

Passporter is kinda neat.. a little redundant for those of us who are true OCD planners.

One you didn't mention is Mousesavers.com for discounts.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I usually buy the Birnbaums guide each year, and have had the unofficial guide in the past. However, I am getting to the point where I have been so many times and read so many books that I could almost write my own!!! With that in mind I voted other, because the DC is where I learn the most new info.

Re: Which have you found most useful?

I voted for allearsnet.com mostly because I've been aware of that sight for the longest amount of time and have used it the most. It has a lot of great information. I also recently got a Passporter and love it! I especially like the maps which are more detailed than the official ones you get at the World and they're just right for taking along with you to the parks. And, of course, I've learned a lot from different people here on DC. So, I really can't narrow it down to one.
