Epcot question

I'm planning my first day at WDW. Mon. morning is EMH at Epcot. I noticed there are only 4 rides open early. MS-which we are not interested in. TT-my DH and DS MAY go on this but not sure. Spaceship earth and Universe of energy don't sound really exciting. What does everone think of those two rides? I think we'll be most interested in innoventions, living seas/land and imaginations. Should we still go early so we can already be inside before everyone else.? And are these other places open as well early and they just don't list them because they're not rides? Any info would be great.
Just so you know- It will be myself, DH, DS(13) and DD(7) and we will only be at Epcot Mon. in the morning till maybe 11:00 or 12:00 because we have a PS at 1900 Park Fare at 4:40 and I also want to go back to our resort to rest ect. We will however be back at Epcot Thurs. evening for the WS and a PS at LeCellier.(and of course we can't miss illuminations) heard it's great.
This is our first trip so I literally know nothing about the parks/rides ect.
Thanks!!

Re: Epcot question

Can I ask why you aren't interested in Mission Space? It's the best ride in all 4 parks!

Re: Epcot question

We all get motion sickness and heard this one will likely make people sick. I'm not much of a thrill seeker-my idea of a ride is the pirates of the carribean boat ride in MK.
My DH will do thrill rides but not anything simulated. They bother him. I have heard that MS is awesome though for people that can handle it.

Re: Epcot question

I see. Well, they've installed barf bags if you change your mind Pete gets a little bothered by it sometimes too. We have to wait at least 30 minutes after his turkey leg

I think it is still worth getting there early, especially if you are going to be there while they are still holding the Flower and Garden festival.

Re: Epcot question

I think the flower and Garden show ends right before we go unfortunately. But I do think we'll go early, even if we just walk around. We'll be there in June and it will only get hotter as the day progresses. It will be crowded and hot but I'll be at WDW so I won't care!!

Re: Epcot question

I like Spaceship Earth just because it's a classic. We always do it at least once when we go. Universe of Energy is loooooong.... we usually don't have the patience for it. In my opinion, it gets kinda boring, but that's just me! Why not try them and see if you like them since you want to get there early anyway? :)

Re: Epcot question

We did the Universe of Energy & Spaceship Earth for the first time on our last trip. We liked both of them. I, too, thought the Universe of Energy might not be interesting, but it was. You go into a room and watch a short clip, then you go into another room with three sections of seats. We sat in the first row on the left side. After the show begins, each of the three sections of seats moves. The left section will be first. You go through a series of rooms with dinosaurs and other things. It was much better than I thought it would be.

On Spaceship Earth, you wind your way up. You go through all different eras of time. I think both of these are worth it. The Spaceship Earth has never had a line. We just hop on the ride.

Re: Epcot question

Good idea! I wonder if my 7 yr. old gets bored if we could leave? Are you actually strapped into a ride or is it like a theater with an exit?

Re: Epcot question

Thanks Disneyfever. Would either of these rides cause motion sickness do you think? Or are they pretty mellow with the moving around and stuff?

You can't leave in the middle - you actualy sit in a vehicle that moves. It's just really really big.

It's actually a really informative ride, and with the new Ellen Degeneres version it's pretty funny. I'm just not all that into dinosaurs or science, so once through was enough for me.

Re: Epcot question

I don't think your child will get bored in Spaceship Earth. The scenery is constantly changing. I remember doing it as a 7 year old and I enjoyed it.

Re: Epcot question

I think we will try them and then we'll know if we should put them on our don't miss list for next time. We're doing MK toward the end of our trip and that's the park that I think we'll like best so our trip will only get better!!!!!!

Re: Epcot question

Just for the record, Spaceship Earth and Universe of Energy are both very slow. Spaceship Earth turns around backwards at one point, but it's still slow and easy. At the end of the day it always makes me want to go to sleep. :)

Re: Epcot question

Like they said, once you get on, you can't get off. But both rides are very slow moving. I think they are both worth trying.

We liked MK the best also. My son loves Splash Mountain & Space Mountain...and all the rest of the rides! There are so many rides for kids at the MK. The AK also is a great place for kids.
