Would you split it up, or do one lump trip?

Okay, the first of MANY planning questions I am going to have down the line...

DH and I are going to spend 2 full weeks in WDW, but a total of about 3 in Florida...(we are going to spend some time off-site looking for homes, and maybe do Universal for a day or two.)

My question is:

Would you split up the trip so you have 1 week at WDW, a few days off-site, and then another week at WDW? (Like getting 2 seperate trips)

Or do all 14 days in one lump sum at WDW, and then do the off-site stuff at the end?

Re: Would you split it up, or do one lump trip?

Since your trip is so long I say a split between two resorts would be nice. If you were staying 5-7 days I might say don't bother unless you really wanted to see two resorts. If you split your stay you can save a little money on the first half and upgrade for the second half.

Where are thinking about staying?

Re: Would you split it up, or do one lump trip?

I'd split it up too. My reasons may be a bit different than DT's.

If you guys are looking at real estate, and you look at it after your first week, but before your last, it gives you a little more time to play with. If you see something that intrests you enough for a second look, you won't be so rushed to get to it again.

Happy planning!!

Sounds like a great trip. I think you should split it up. Looking for a home can be great fun but sometimes difficult. If you split it up you still have more Disney to look forward to in case you don't have the luck you want with houses. Go home happy!

Split it up!
You'd get a week at WDW, then a week to look for homes, go to US/IOA, and then just when PDD sets in, you can head back to WDW for another entire week of fun!

I think the opportunity to do it that way is awesome.

I like your split plan. You could stay in one resort for a week, go do the off site stuff the next, then go stay at a different resort. It could be like 2 WDW vacations. Then you can still go home with a WDW smile at the end.

Splitting the 3 weeks into separate trips sounds like fun!

I would split it up. I think you would have a lot of fun going to Universal & Islands in between. Maybe the water park. So, it looks like you might move to Florida instead of CA? I think it's great! Move there while you can. The older you get and the longer you have worked at your job, the harder it is to pick up & go. You will have a blast looking at houses!! (and going to WDW)

Re: Would you split it up, or do one lump trip?

Thanks for the input guys...I was leaning towards splitting it up, but I wanted to see what some other people thought.

I think overall it's going to be fun to split it up, because like some of you said, it'll be nice to get the house-hunting out of the way and then be able to head back to WDW just when the PDD sets in!

We have officially decided our resorts, as you can see in my signature. We're going to stay at the 2 resorts I have already stayed at--the Poly & All-Star Movies--(so that Ryan catches up with me as far as "resorts stayed at") and then at AKL because that's the resort both of us chose as our favorite of the moment.

I think I we are going to stay 5 nights at the Poly, followed by 3 nights All-Star Movies...then move off-site for 5 nights...and back to WDW at the AKL for 5 nights.

Does that sound okay? Any comments or suggestions appreciated. I *would* split up the WDW halves more evenly, but the problem is, my birthday is on the 18th and I really want to be in WDW for my birthday...so I stretched the 1st half a little bit longer.

I got to celebrate my 19th birthday there in 2003...it was soooo awesome! It didn't matter if it was technically my birthDAY or not...the whole week, everywhere we went, the CMs celebrated my birthday! I got a cupcake w/ gummy worms at 'Ohana...the waiter at the Hoop-De-Doo tried to bring me a beer, until he realized that I wasn't turning 21...

So I am DEFINITELY looking forward to celebrating my 21st birthday in WDW!

My bday is the one day out of our trip that Ryan gets to plan all by himself......he put dibs on planning that day, so I have to surrender the duties to him. LOL

I said split because... I don't know, it just seems logical to me?
