Snacks in the parks?

Okay so we're going to be bringing snacks into the parks, along with water bottles and Crystal Light to go packs. Booyah!

Now the question is WHAT sort of snacks do you bring?

I'm not bringing stuff like tuna packets and veinna sausages (ew) or stuff to make sandwiches (that's too much in my opinion), but i also don't want stuff to go stale, get mushy or get crushed. The BF has fallen in love with Uncrustables, so yeah we're bringing some of those. I figure a few apples /fruit will work as well. Maybe some pizza goldfish (I love those).
No idea what else.

When you guys bring snacks into the parks, what do you bring?

(PS: FILLING is good too.. we like filling snacks )

Re: Snacks in the parks?

Don't know if you'll have children with you or not (or maybe you like these too??)...But our daughter LOVES when we bring the little boxes of animal crackers. She can hold them while we push her in the stroller. That's one of our all time favorites...Also she likes to bring Gummi Bears (plus that keeps us from having to buy them in the candy store, ugh!)

Re: Snacks in the parks?

Things like peanut butter crackers should keep pretty well. Or those little individual servings of Pringles.

And if you don't want things to get crushed I would recommend using the disposable plasitic storage containers. They make them in so many sizes you can fit everything you want to bring and things will stay fresh.

Re: Snacks in the parks?

I bring bottled water, but you can also bring those little sealed containers of pudding or applesauce. They keep pretty well and stand up to the smush test.

Re: Snacks in the parks?

My kids love poptarts, kudos bars, and crackers. I'm also going to bring the individual skippy peanut butters, DD loves them on chocolate or caramel rice cakes and fruit. Lollipops are also on my list.

Re: Snacks in the parks?

I would say cereal/granola bars, individual snack packets of oreos/chips o hoy/ritz bitz/gold fish. Good snacking and won't go bad. Small enough to put in a backpack without taking up too much room.

We usually bring those small bags of different kinds of crackers and the pre-made Rice Crispy Treats you can buy in the stores.

Re: Snacks in the parks?

In my pre-atkins days I used to cart around nutri-grain bars. Low-carb snacks could be roasted/salted nuts, beef jerkey (gross!), pork rinds (double gross!), or cheese sticks (they keep pretty well even if they're out of the fridge for several hours).

BUT, if you've seen my itinerary, you know that I'll be eating quite a bit on this trip and probably will have no need for snacks in the parks! LOL :)
