Allears is reporting one of AK's elephants, Ibala, died over the weekend from an infection. She's the 26yo elephant that miscarried a few months ago.

That is sad. Does anyone know how many elephants are kept by AK?

One of our family traditions is to take a photo of an elephant whenever we are on the safari at AK. What had happened was, as very frequent visitors to Disney, we would wind up at the end of the year with many of these shots of what seemed to be the same elephant from our visits every few months. I realized that it was my husband doing this so exciting photography, so I teased him about it. Now, of course, it is done on purpose and we act like it is such a big deal when we come across our latest elephant photo.

So sad. We just got back from doing the Safari and saw many elephants. I pray that the spirit of this amazing creature will rest in peace and joy.

There is just something so majestic and serene about elephants. Absolutely my favorite animal to see at the AK. I am very sad to hear about this, and sad for the trainers/staff at the AK.

That is so sad, we had a elephant at our zoo here that would paint picture with water paints, that died about 6 years ago. We were pretty broken up about it.

Oh that's so sad. What is the average lifespan of an elephant? Was the infection related to the miscarriage?

Poor thing. Elephants are so serene and majestic.

(Of course I've never seen one charging.)
