Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show Review

I've read mixed reviews of the new auto stunt show at MGM -- Lights, Motors, Action! -- but after seeing it for the first time DW and I thought it was very, very good.

Once the show gets under way the action is pretty much non-stop, with lots of spinning cars, squealing tires and revving engines. The stunt cars are highly modified Opel Corsas, retrofitted with powerful 1,300cc motorcycle engines. Motorcycles and jet skis also are used in the show.

It's all done under the guise of showing the audience how an action scene for a spy thriller is filmed. The set is designed to look like a French village on the Mediterranean.

The show lasts 35 minutes, and although some of the stunts are perhaps a little repetitive, there's enough "insider" information revealed about how the effects are achieved to keep you interested. I won't mention any spoilers here. The pyrotechnics used in the final stunt are pretty spectacular, particularly if you're sitting close to the action where you can feel the tremendous blast of heat.

When the audience is shown the "finished scene" on the stadium Jumbotron, it's pretty neat to see how everything comes together.

Lights, Motors, Action! has similarities to Indiana Jones in the way the audience is shown how moviemakers achieve their magic, but I think this is a better overall attraction. Certainly, though, if you like Indiana Jones you'll really like this new show.

Some viewers have complained the show is too long -- the metal benches aren't very comfy -- but I think the real problem is that it takes a long time to fill the 5,000-seat stadium. If you've used a FastPass and are among the first seated, you'll end up sitting for quite awhile.

That negative aside, DW and I highly recommend Lights, Motors, Action!

Good review...we did the fast pass with 2 small children and it was an ok wait. They have a jumbotron doing car movie trivia, so it helped pass the time. Here's my best picture from the show.

That is very true...we saw it Saturday. I thought it was okay....my DS's thought it was awesome. Fast cars, loud motors, fire...what more could a young boy ask for?

This is right up my son's alley. I can tell you right now that we are in for seeing this at least three times while we are there... he will insist on it!

Re: Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show Review

I got the chance to experience LMA and was very impressed. I had heard very mixed reviews, but the stunts were amazing. The opening Ballet sequence was spectacular and the explosive finale was awesome. This is now a must see for our family and I recommend Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show to everybody. It is a great addition to the Disney Studios.

I know my DS will LOVE this. It is just the kind of stuff he goes for. In fact, at first he thought it was a ride and kept asking if he could ride in the cars!!!

We attended one of the preshows in early April and the show was pretty "rough" then but it was good. They had to stop a few times for safety concerns(after cancelling the earlier 1pm show too). It ran over 45 minutes and we had to leave for our PS for Fantasmic but from what we saw tke kids and us loved it. Do they still have Herbie in it?

Herbie was in it when we were there in early May. I thought the show was good -- DH and DS really liked it a lot. Their favorite part was the explosion/stunt at the end!
