Planning suggestions...

O.K. guys, we are getting close to the 30 day mark , and my Disney planning hormones are starting to kick into overdrive . I need some suggestions though....

We will be there for 5 and a half (arrival day) days. It's just DH and I, and we will be attending the US Open Martial Arts tournament that is being held at Coronado Springs while we are there. We'll be at the tournament on Friday morning, Saturday morning, and Saturday night.

My issue is this....what parks do I go to on what days. I want to fit as much in as possible, but still have time to relax! The only one I know for sure is July 4th we will be at MK (we're doing the KTTK tour). Otherwise I'm open to suggestions. Also, I need to mention that we are not getting hopper passes, our favorite parks are Epcot, MGM and MK, and I will be 5 and a half months pregnant so I'm not on normal commando mode.

(I would skip AK, since it's not DH's favorite, but I really want to see Lucky, and with a baby, I know it will be awhile until we get back!)

So how would you schedule my trip???

Re: Planning suggestions...

I would defineatly NOT skip AK if you're pregnant because it is not a 'thrill seeking' park. There are lots of shows and shade for you to sit in when you get tired! Same with EPCOT.
What are your dates...somewhere around here..and I'll try and find the link..there is a thread that has a link to the touring guide. It tells you the best parks to go to on specific dates. It also gives you a guesstimate of the crowd levels.

Re: Planning suggestions...

Touring plans during fouth of July weekend are going to be tough. You are going to want to hit the parks right when they open to avoid long waits and crowds. You should go to Epcot on Friday night, skip the parks on Saturday. You have a long day as it is and should rest up. Sunday should be spent at MGM and then Monday you will be at MK. Tuesday can be a redo for things you missed on the other days. Wednesday, you last day, you should go to AK. I agree with Cinderbella. It's a great park to tour if you are pregnant. Lots to do and see there for the noncommando. Have you thought of dining options yet? You should try for a Fantasmic! package to avoid the long wait on your feet for FAntasmic!. Momma's is perfect for that if you like Italian. If not, Hollywood and Vine if you are wanting to keep it in a budget and Brown Derby for a romantic adult meal that a little more expensive, but very good. Also consider the Luau or Ohanna's for a nice meal and a break from the parks.

Re: Planning suggestions...

Thanks for the suggestions (and the link!). My actual dates are arriving June 29th and departing early July 5th. A very busy time, but it was kind of a spur of the moment trip, so I'll suffer with the crowds and heat and just be thankful I'm there.
I agree with you on the AK thing. I really don't want to miss Lucky, and there are quite a few things we haven't seen...Flights of Wonder and Conservation Station for example.

I was thinking about the Fantasmic dinner package. Mama's sounds like it will be right up my alley (I'm craving Italian and cinnamon rolls!! ), although I'm worried with that busy time frame that I'm too late! I'll give them a call in the morning.

Lucky is a baby dinosaur that walks around the park with his own little food cart attached to his back. He interacts with the crowd and he is ADORABLE. It was one of my favorite things.

If my DH ever gets our picture situation straightened out I could post some pics!!!

Don't leave it too late as far as I understand it Lucky will be moving on to another park in June or July this year.
Which is a pity as we will miss him in December. Here's hoping he come back in 2006 for our next trip.

They have a limited menu for the Fantasmic package so I get the chicken parm....it's delicious! You get a flatbread pizza, bread, your entree and dessert with this meal, so bring your appetite. Excellent food!

No! I'm so sorry. that stinks! That week is a very, very busy week, so I'm not totally shocked. Fantasmic! packages do sell out fast even in the slower months. They only offer so many per night and it's not a lot. Try Momma's anyway one night. It's really a great place.

Tink, don't give up hope.

While I've never gotten an entirely straight answer, I've heard that they do hold onto a number of ressies and open them up about 3-4 weeks prior to the date. So keep calling each morning.

And, as for any reservation, call everyday when you're less than 12 days out. People who have room-only's can cancel 5 days in advance without penalty, and many people tend to book 1 week vacations. So, starting about 12 days prior to a date, spotty cancellations might open up for ya.

It's a bit of a long shot, but worth it IMO.
