How are the parks in October?
I've always gone to WDW in May, which is a wonderful time to go, but now I'm considering a short trip in October to celebrate my DD's birthdays. How is the weather then and what kind of crowds should I expect? I'd like to go for an extended weekend around Columbus day. What do you think?

Re: How are the parks in October?
October and early May are my FAVORITE times to visit WDW! The weather will be very nice and comfortable and the crowds will be fine -- the holiday weekend may bring a few more people than any other October weekend, but I think you'll really enjoy an October trip!!

Re: How are the parks in October?
We are going Oct 14-22 this year. This will be our first October Trip. We usually go in late Feb. or early March. From what I've read October has gotten busier in the last few years but still not summer busy. However, I've noticed Columbus day weekend is listed as high crowds on several websites and guide books.

Re: How are the parks in October?
I went last year the week of Columbus day and it was packed- the entire week!!! 95 minute wait for splash Mountain and 65 minute waits for Space Mountain! Be prepared for the crowds- they were there, but you could still manuever through the parks relatively easily. It was more packed than I thought that it was going to be, and I bet that the HCOE will bring in more people!!! Have a great trip!!!!

Re: How are the parks in October?
I have gone several times the first week of Oct, and the weather and crowds are great! I would suggest this time frame to anyone.

Re: How are the parks in October?
We found the October weather the most comfortable, very warm and pleasant during the day, however, I recall having to purchase a sweater as the night time temperature in comparison to the day seemed to go much cooler. Also the UK has a 'half term' holiday in October and many British people head out to Florida at that time, so the middle two weeks may be busier with Brits!!!!

Re: How are the parks in October?
I love October!!! I haven't found it to be that crowded, especially in the beginning. The touring plan site http://www.touringplans.com/BestDays.htm lists the highest crowds at a 6, but it looks like most of October is a 3 or 4.

Re: How are the parks in October?
October is one of our favorite times to travel to WDW. It's warm during the day, but it can get a little cool at night. We have been there when the Brits are on their half term holiday, but the crowds still were not that bad. I say go for it!

Re: How are the parks in October?
I love going to WDW in October. There's usually very little rain, low to moderate crowds, AND, of course, the Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP. There's no better time to visit if you ask me. I'll see you there!

Re: How are the parks in October?
Ok, early October is sounding really good! What exactly is the Food and Wine Festival? It sounds like something I would really like.
