Disney's Grassy Knoll Resort

Folks everytime I come to WDW and experience the eighth wonder of the world (otherwise known as the Resort Monorail) I notice there is a grassy knoll between the TTC and the Contemporary . Undeveloped land ladies and gentlemen of Disney Central. Now each monorail resort corresponds to a land in MK (Polynesian-Adventureland, Contemporary-Tomorrowland, GF-Main Street, and Wilderness Lodge (Fort Wilderness) - Frontierland). Disney would make a fortune if they had another hotel near the MK. They could make a resort corresponding again to one of these lands above mentioned or what's leftover Fantasyland, Liberty Square (Bed and Bkfst resort? Colonial Resort), or Toontown Fair. The view is great. Let's see if you have any ideas

Funny you should mention this, DW & me were just discussing something similar a few days ago. I would love to see a resort themed towards the Haunted Mansion/Tower of Terror type idea!!!

I know it is an MGM attraction, but I would love to stay at the Tower of Terror. My DS thinks that is the best ride ever.

Yes, a tower of terror hotel would be so cool!!! We are always saying how we would love to stay the night in the Tower of terror, if it wasn't so loud!

Re: Disney's Grassy Knoll Resort

I'd love to see a resort themed around things like the Tower of Terror or the Haunted Mansion! I would stay there in a minute! That would be the PERFECT place to have a villain character meal...

I can just see it now. Take New York New York from Las Vegas as your basic idea, and instead of New York buildings, make it the villain's home bases. For example, the Haunted Mansion could be the entrance. One side of the resort could look like, oh, Hades, maybe Maleficent's castle, and, well, the Tower of Terror. On the other side, it could look like the Beast's castle when it was all run down, the castle that was in the Black Cauldron, and, oh, how 'bout Captain Hook's boat--only it's docked.

Now, let's think about this a little more... Hmmmm... If we had water on that side by Captain Hook, maybe this resort could have its very own ferry to take you to and from one of the parks--but the ferry needs to be the boat from The Rescuers, right?

Inside the foyer, you could have some really odd things, like a doe's head on the wall (shades of Bambi), maybe a leopard skin on the floor or on one wall (shades of Tarzan), green fire in the fireplace (not hard to do, if you use the right element, but still, shades of several movies). There would need to be a talking mirror somewhere. They could use the same technology they used for Crush in Epcot to do it!

They couldn't carry it too far, however, because they would HAVE to allow people to sleep at night. But, the floorboards could creak when walked upon. The faucet handles could squeak when turned, etc.

Oh! Oh! Oh! At midnight, they could tell ghost stories around the fireplace! And, on the fireplace, way up high where people can't reach it, they could make part of it look like a concrete Churnabog that, at midnight or some other predetermined time, starts moving, waving its arms, eyes glowing, etc!?!?

In the morning, you could get a wake-up call from your favorite villain!

I could get into designing a resort like this!!!!!! Great idea, Darby!

letting my imagination soar!!!!!

Re: Disney's Grassy Knoll Resort

Unfortunately that land was for a Resort that will never come. The land is too unstable in that area to support a foundation. It was to be a Venetian Resort. Even made it on early renderings of the Magic Kingdom area.

The land ws re-evaluated a few years back and the condition is worse than before. It is ashame, it is a prime spot and a great idea. That is why Wilderness Lodge became the first Deluxe off the monorail loop.

I think Eisner considered the Tower of Terror being a working Resort on one side and the ride on the other. I know he has looked into a haunted Resort theme, so I am sure there are some imagineer specs for something like this.

Hmmm... Interesting theory. I never thought of it that way.

Why was this thread started again?

On top of that, it seems that the same things are being said in the second thread.

Re: Disney's Grassy Knoll Resort

How about a "Small World" Resort. Dancing Dolls. The same song playing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

Now that would be a scary place to stay!
