Night of Joy

I just noticed that the Night of Joy dates are right in the middle of my week. Should I be concerned? What park does this happen at? Is it packed? We are not interested in attending the concerts, so should we just avoid those parks completely, or are the crowds not too bad? Thanks.

Magic Kingdom at night. It gets really crowded.

Yeah, I've heard that it mainly affects the night. So think of it as a blessing that you can go to any of the other parks and have it less crowded.

Re: Night of Joy

I've attended the Night of Joy for the past 5 years now (not counting last year becuase the stupid hurricanes made us cancel! ) The event only takes place in the MK and it can get very crowded. Large groups are allowed in the MK early (at 4 I think) before the event starts. So the park will definitely fill up in the late afternoon. The MK closes early to regular park guests that don't have a ticket to the Night of Joy, just like MNSSHP and MVMCP. My tip to you would be avoid the MK in the afternoon on the NoJ days. If you still want to go- go in the morning, then park hop somewhere else. Luckily the Night of Joy is a short event, so the MK closes early only on those 2 scheduled nights. Don't worry about. The other parks should be fine, and the crowds will clear out the next day.

Re: Night of Joy

Disney has advertised who is performing on each night, but do they release a more detailed schedule before that night? We would like to pre-plan the evening. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I know this isn't the thread for this but I can't wait for NoJ! As for a more detailed schedule, I don't think there is one.

Re: Night of Joy

We probably won't find out which group is performing on what stage at what time until we go through the gates that night.

Re: Night of Joy

NoJ was so much fun! I went 2 years in a row with my middle school youth group... some of the best Disney trips I've ever had! (and I got to see Newsboys!! woohoo!) It was really crowded, but everybody entertained themselves in line. In the Haunted Mansion line someone started up a chorus of "I love Jesus, yes I do, I love Jesus, how bout you" and everyone was shouting it back and forth. Good times... :)

Robin, I'm just guessing here (never been to NoJ), but I would imagine MK will be fairly empty in early morning. If I were planning my trip, I'd do "rope drop" at MK opening. Leave the park early afternoon for a nap at your resort and then park hop to Epcot or MGM for the evening.
