Mary Poppins: Princess or Good Witch!?

I was reading a post about the Disney Dining Plan where I saw Mary Poppins featured at a Disney Princess breakfast. What the !?

When was she granted royalty status!?

Last I checked she was healing children by mixing a sugar concoction and flying with an unmbrella as her preferred transportation. Not to mention various exhibits of wizardry/Sorcery. (Flying cars - dancing cartoons and the list goes on)

I have no beef with Mrs. Poppins but I am concerned of her power status. A Wizard/Sorcerress in a kingdom controlling setting could have some diabolical reprecussions if the powers weren't put to the use of "good".

Behaves like a witch. Moves like a witch. Must be a witch even though she is a good witch.

Perhaps she is the Princess's nanny.

LOL!

I'll go with - makes little kids happy - so we'd like to see her there. Actually I would be more happy to see her than any of the others.

Princess's Nanny!? Hogwash!
Cinderella has the fairygod mothers.
Snow White has the 7 Dwarfs
Ariel has friends to guard her.

If its an issue off kids want to see her why not simply state it as the Heroin Breakfast. We need to make sure not to put that "e" on Heroin though.

True about the debate. When we spoke to Mary Poppins at the breakfast at the castle, she had the most crisp Britich accent and was very proper. It was interesting to see her interact with my children who do not regularly interact with someone with a British accent. I was great to see a little variety in that breakfast, even if she is not true royalty!!!!

Perhaps the princesses are messy, and they make her come along with them to clean up their mess!

Or maybe the princesses need her to jump between cartoon world and the real world.

Seriously, it's a character breakfast. Peter Pan shows up sometimes too. He's not royalty.

On the British accent note. I was amazed at how well the Mary Poppins character performed. Her accent was flawless. I'm not sure. Maybe she was British.

You must be bored. Me too.
I like your way of thinking. However, I'm not convinced she is all good.

HA! This is another thread in and of itself! But I have a few theories.

1) Peter Pan is a real stud and knows when to maximize time with "his ladies".
-OR-
2) Peter Pan can be considered being androgenous since he has been played by julie Andrews and Robin Williams. Mr./Mrs. Pan though not Royalty may be deeply confused and just looking for answers about who he or she really truly is.
-OR-
3) Peter Pan is their body guard from vile middle aged men like myself.

BUT THIS IS ABOUT MARY POPPINS NOT PETER FLIPPIN' PAN!

Re: Mary Poppins: Princess or Good Witch!?

Ok here is the real deal...the Princess, all married now and have a bunch of kids (those stories were a long time ago). They hired Mary Poppins as their nanny and she did wonders. Now Mary Poppins runs a Princess only spa to help them keep their youthful look.

Of course they are all such good friends (the Princess's and Mary Poppins) that they all hang out together.

Hope this clears things up.

(she is not a witch she is just nearly perfect in every way that is were she gets all her knowledge)

Re: Mary Poppins: Princess or Good Witch!?

I'd say she acts more like a fairy godmother than a good witch. I mean, she doesn't dress in pink frilly things. She's more of a "practical" dresser, and she's not afraid to get her nose dirty. Those things just don't sound "Good Witch" to me.

But she's definitely not a princess.

Re: Mary Poppins: Princess or Good Witch!?

No need for silence. This is meant to be a fun conversation.

Mary Poppins is probably a servant on Disney Property for when the Princesses are in attendance it makes perfect sense that way. To consider her royalty is a "havashamockery" of the royal cloth. I just don't buy it.

Mary Poppin's as a Spa owner is a stretch but plausible.

Mary Poppin's is probably bottom feeding for men that the Princess' do away with. She's the "Wing Woman" for when the girls go out to party.
