Fantasmic Dinner package

Will it be necessary to get the dinner package for Friday, December 20th? I don't really want to stand in line for 2 hours. I would like some input on this since I have confilicting information on this.

Also, can I make reservations now for the dinner package? I read somewhere that you can't get the dinner package unless you have already checked into a disney resort and even then only 7 days prior.

While you don't need it, I would suggest you do it. December 20th will be one of the first days that it starts to get crowded, and there is only one Fantasmic! scheduled that day, so it may be a long wait to get in. I would suggest when you get to the park to see how crowded it seems. If it seems crowded, go to guest services and book your PS for the Fantasmic! package. If it doesn't seem to be too bad, just show up about 45 minutes before and find a seat.

Keep in mind though that a lot of people are like us & might go do something else during the day & then show up for Fantasmic at night. We didn't have reservations last March or this past trip a couple of weeks ago and always had great seats. In March we showed up about 20 minutes before show time & were over on the right side but could see everything perfectly. This past trip we showed up about 50 minutes before showtime & got 4th row center! If I can make one suggestion, though, try not to be that close if it's chilly out. We were almost constantly sprayed with a mist that was pretty chilly.

Fantasmic! is shown year round, 365 days a year. Right now, Disney has a test program in where you can call ahead and make reservations. It has a tiered system, where you can eat at Hollywood and Vine for $22.99/Child $10.99, includes everything but beverages, or at Mama Melrose's for $32.99/Child $10.99, includes several entress and dessert, no beverages, or at the Brown Derby for $39.99/Child $10.99 and includes appetizers, entree and dessert.

Normally, and which may be the case in January, you just show up the day of and make a PS at either Hollywood and Vine, Mama Melrose's or the Brown Derby, eat your normal meal, and head to the reserved section of Fantasmic! There are no fixed prices, so you could just have an entree, and it would be less expensive.

In January, you shouldn't need to do this, it won't be too crowded. Just show up at the gates 45 minutes before, and you wil get a great seat.

Mickey, do you have a feel for the crowd level on the Fantasmic! package for the first week in December? I don't know if both kids will go to the Neverland Club, and would rather book dinner a la carte anyways. In other words, I'd rather not book the package, but am afraid I'd never get to see Fantasmic! (I have yet to see it - ugh!)

As long as you are not going on the Friday or Saturday night, it shouldn't be a problem. We have always just walked in about 45 minutes prior, and gotten a seat in the center section. We usually hang out at the top until they start making the rows scoot over to fill in the empty space, and then we just walk down and find some space near the front.

mickeymac looks over her itinerary and notes that yes, of course, she's trying to fit it in on a ripe and busy Friday night... back to the planning stage again... sigh...

I like your Perch and Scoot method - I'll have to try that out! :D
