As many of you already know, I decided to include Mickey Mouse Revue in my Magic Kingdom theme park. WDW's Magic Kingdom had Mickey Mouse Revue from 1971 to 1980, and was later shipped to Tokyo Disneyland, where it has been continuously running since 1983.
Since a lot of time has passed since 1971, mine will be updated with more up-to-date animatronics, a couple of new musical numbers, and several new characters to be added, for example: -- Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, with his seashell drums -- Esmerelda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, with her tambourine -- Aladdin and the Genie, who have no instruments, but contribute to a very lively portion of the show's opening medley! -- Peter Pan, with his Pan flute (I know he was around in 1971, but it really surprises me that he and his Pan flute weren't used then!) In case anyone's not familiar with Mickey Mouse Revue, here's a weblink describing the former WDW attraction: http://home.cfl.rr.com/omniluxe/mmr.htm The above weblink describes the original Mickey Mouse Revue show. Mine will be the same for the most part, with a couple of new songs. Here is the list of songs I will use so far, in order of their use: 1.) An opening medley of six familiar Disney songs. The first four are instrumental (as in the original show), while the latter two song clips (about a verse or so long) will include singing. a.) "Heigh Ho," b.) "Whistle While You Work" c.) "When You Wish Upon A Star" d.) "Hi Diddle Dee Dee." e.) "All In The Golden Afternoon", with Alice singing a verse or so as part of the opening medley. This very likely was the best scene in the show visually; with flowers popping like fireworks, and every lastpiece of this scene looked like it was crafted of confectioner's sugar. However, mine has been cut down to a verse or so for part of the opening medley, to help make way for the newer songs and due to the presence of the 2-story Alice in Wonderland dark ride I recently decided to add to Fantasyland. In fact, this musical number itself was, in addition to budgetary reasons, a reason the Alice in Wonderland dark ride, or another attraction telling the story of Alice's adventures like the Labrynth maze at Disneyland Paris (Hong Kong will get this maze as well), was not built at WDW's Magic Kingdom or Tokyo Disneyland! f.) NEW!"Friend Like Me", from Aladdin. This medley piece opens with the opening brass horn stinger from the song, while Aladdin rubs his magical lamp. A small cloud of stream erupts from the lamp spout, while the blue Genie rises up behind the lamp. When the Genie fully arises, he breaks into song with the final piece of the opening medley: "Mister Aladdin, sir What will your pleasure be? Let me take your order Jot it down You ain't never had a friend like me Mister Aladdin, sir have a wish or two or three I'm on the job, you big nabob You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend You ain't never had a friend like me You ain't never had a friend like me, hah!" 2.) At the conclusion of that brief overture, Dumbo's tuba intones the first few notes of "Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf" as the wolf's shadow sneaks across the rear curtain toward center stage. Further right a section of the curtain rises to reveal the Three Little Pigs in a cross-section of Practical Pig's brick house. The pigs play and sing a few seconds of their signature song before the curtain closes over them and another section lifts to the left. 3 & 4.) The next vignette will feature Snow White and some forest animals sitting on a wooded hillside. She sings a version of "I'm Wishing" , the same version that emanated from Snow White's Adventure's wishing well at WDW until 1994, while the animals listen in. As Snow White finishes, an adjacent area of the hillside comes into view from behind another section of rising curtain. Here the Seven Dwarfs stand in their cottage, playing "The Silly Song." The dwarfs also sing part of the song with Snow White's help before the curtain lowers on their setting. 5.) NEW! The next number is "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid, which Sebastian sings as he plays his seashell drums, joined by is other ocean costars, while Ariel looks on. Unfortunately, I've never seen The Little Mermaid all the way through (only clips of it), so could someone fill me in a little about this scene from the movie? 6.) The next scene was from The Three Caballeros, and it will be the show's most animated and comical segment. A flying carpet rises from the pit to the left of the orchestra. On the carpet will be Donald, Panchito and Jose Carioca. They break out into the main theme from "Three Caballeros" in a blaze of music and color, with Donald on maracas, Jose on guitar and Panchito firing two pistols. Each shot will send sparks of bright light streaking across the room. The three barely begin their song when the lights go out on the carpet. Instantaneously, Panchito and Jose appear (still singing) on the small side stage to the audience's right. Then Panchito fires a pistol and the glow of his bullet races across the stage, illuminating Donald on the left side stage. Donald shakes his maracas vigorously and continues the song like the frantic duck he is. With the sound of another ricocheting bullet, he disappears and reappeares on the right side stage. Another shot and Panchito and Jose pops up where Donald had been just seconds prior. Moments later the three will be reunited on the carpet, where they quickly finish the song and disappear as quickly as they'd arrive. This will be definitely a highlight of the show. 7 & 8.) The next vignette begis with the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella, in her scullery maid outfit, standing at the far left side of the stage. The Fairy Godmother sings "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" and waves her wand around. Soon, in a shower of twinkling lights, Cinderella was transformed into her princess incarnation. Then the rear curtain lowers as Cinderella and Prince Charming, dance across it in a spotlight. They sing "So This Is Love" as they waltz. Clusters of hearts frame them on the curtain. 9.) Following the Cinderella segment, the sound of the orchestra comes rising up from the pit. To the right, Brer Fox, Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit rise into view and began singing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah." As they sing, the orchestra rose beside them. The Three Caballeros reappeared also, and then the rear curtain liftes to reveal all of the show's scenes at once. The houses of the Three Little Pigs and Seven Dwarfs will be gone, leaving all the characters contrasted against a brightening sky in the background. Cinderella now stands with Prince Charming, and everyone joins in the song. A rainbow gleams across the horizon as the voices and instruments of all the characters reaches a crescendo. At the close of the song, the entire stage fell dark save for a spotlight on Mickey. His pedestal spun to face the audience as the other characters sang the "Mickey Mouse Club Alma Mater." Mickey, all choked up, spoke. "Well folks, that concludes our show, we hope you enjoyed it..." Then, as he lets out a little mouse laugh, the main curtain was drawn and the show will be over. Re: Mickey Mouse Revue animatronic stage show (in my Magic Kingdom theme park)
OOPS! I didn't mean to post this twice, but the first time I posted, I got an error message saying that the post didn't take. Therefore, I assumed it didn't post at all, so I reposted this. Sorry about that!
