Any spur of the moment trips?

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on lately we have been moving into our house. That has been a job... I was wondering if any of ya'll have ever done a spur of the moment trip to WDW? We would like to leave maybe Thursday or Friday of this week, what do ya'll think? We only live 4 hrs away. Love to hear opinions.

You don't need our opinions. You just need to grab your credit cards, the car keys and that husband and whom ever else and GO!!!!!

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

I love spur of the moment trips (they keep me from major PDD lol). I say get going! If you are staying onsite, just call ahead to get a room. I have been known to call on the way there and still get what i want :) have fun!

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

We're pretty good with spur of the moment trips. Haven't done one to WDW lately - we're about 7 hours away. But we're big into last minute trips to New Orleans, Atlanta, etc. I just grab $500 from the bank ATM, credit cards, and pack a light suitcase - and get out!

So, GO! Moving can be stressful - take a few days off and go have fun!

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

We did it once. Took all three kids too.

There were some family issues going on at the time and we thought it was best to get away with our own family.

It did wonders for all of us.

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

Yeah...we're still toying with the idea of leaving bright and early Friday morning to surprise DS for his 5th birthday. We're about 6 hours away. I SOOO want to, and part of me says "Why not?" but the other part knows I shouldn't spend the money with three trips already planned between now and Christmas....I'll keep you all posted.

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

If I was that close I would go every chance I could get. The 367 days that we are waiting from the day we left to the day we get back is taking forever (another 83 days to go).

GO AND HAVE A GREAT TIME

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

Some of our spur of the moment trips have been some of our best. Sometimes it is good to just drop everything and go. I wish I could do that right now.

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

My boyfriend and I decided one night that we really wanted to go. We booked our Disney package and flights that night, and flew out the next morning! (We live in Toronto, so it is about a 2 and 1/2 hour flight) It was really exciting!
And the best part is that we didn't even book time off work...we called in sick for 2 days and the rest of the time was a weekend. I didn't even feel bad, I had so much fun.

Re: Any spur of the moment trips?

Growing up my parents did that alot. Woke us up in the wee hours of the morning, threw us un the car (3 kids), and off we went. Last year we planned a 4 day weekend at WDW. we planned on leaving thursday night. We had bought tickets already. It was slow at work so I called dh at 9am and said we should just leave work and go. Before you knew it, dh was at AAA exchanging our tickets for seasonal passes, I left work, pulled ds out of preschool, got home, grabbed our luggage and we were out the door (good thing I have a disney loving boss who totally understood where I was coming from). By 1pm we were walking down Main Street and as we walked by Dumbo my brother, sil, and neices were walking right toward us. We were not suppose to meet them until 8pm that night. It was a total surprise to them that we got there 6 hours earlier then expected...and even more surprised that we ran into them so quickly!

Spur of the moment trips are lots of fun. I say if you can pull it off...DO IT. When our ds is a little older I am sure we will do it more often.
