Late Sept vs Late Oct weather and crowds
We are still thinking of maybe changing to late October for our trip. I am trying to compare the weather and crowds.
My thoughts: Sept 30 may be crowded because of the start of the Epcot fest, weather will be warmer during the day (?? - not sure because I have never been there at this time of the year). Could be nice pool weather. October may be more crowded because of the Halloween events and the weather could be on the chilly side. We went last Nov 2nd and it was pretty chilly in the mornings and at night. It was that time of the year where you would have to bring two different sets of clothes (hot and cold weather). Would love to hear what others think. Dh wants to keep Sept 30 and I am undecided. |

Re: Late Sept vs Late Oct weather and crowds
hmm...this is a tricky one...and either one sounds like a wonderful time to ride the jungle cruise...but I would have to lean towards Sept. 30...I dunno why...maybe your point about the weather and maybe because school is just starting up again...so it may not be as crowded. So...I would go with Sept!!!

Re: Late Sept vs Late Oct weather and crowds
We went 2 years ago, Sept 20-30. There were NO crowds. We were able to walk on anything we wanted to. School had just started for most of the states up here, so I think that had something to do with it as well.
We've also been in October. The 3-10, in 2001. It was right after 9/11, so crowd levels were really low then, too. Also, much earlier in the month than you are looking at though. I'd leave it with September, but that's only because it's sooner! ![]()

Re: Late Sept vs Late Oct weather and crowds
We went 10/30-11/5 last year.
And it was hot for the entire trip except the last 2 days with the last day being both a bit chilly in the day AND night, the nite before that, I wore pants for the first time. It was only a little bit crowded for MNSSHP on the 31st and my last day the 4th and that still is NOT bad at all. We didnt have a long wait for anything, We did FP for Peter pan and when we went to MGM I did FP for TOT and RNR because I went on them by myself. Oh and Iam going again this year! ![]()

Re: Late Sept vs Late Oct weather and crowds
Think we are going to stick with Sept 30th. The discounts arent out for October yet and I dont want to get stuck paying top dollar for a room. In the back of my mind I am thinking maybe even going back in December. We have never been to MGM with Osbourne Lights and have always wanted to see it. So if we go Sept 30th rather then Oct then we have an extra month to try and save some money up.
Thanks for the input. |

Re: Late Sept vs Late Oct weather and crowds
We were there in late Sept 2000 and it was HOT 90's, and then we would get those 10 minute showers and it got HOTTER, Since 2001 we have been there from around Nov 8 - 15th and the weather was nice, 80's and the ride levels were fine, max wait was probably 45 mins at the most popular rides, I was watching our video from last year and Test track had a 45 mn wait, we were there in March 05 and Test Track was 220 mins, so 45 is a short wait.
I'd say go with late October

Re: Late Sept vs Late Oct weather and crowds
I only have only been there in October. We landed on October 9th and left on the 17th. It was hot the day we arrived. We made it to the park in time to get some lunch and get a spot for the parade. First time ever to WDW and after only a couple of hours we had to go back to the hotel to rest (asthma). The rest of the trip was ok, it rained only once for the better part of the day. Another day a shower her and there, nothing to speak of. It only got cold one evening where we bought sweatshirts. However, the hurricane factor had us worried, it was one right after another all the way up until the time we left. We saw a lot of damage when we arrived in Orlando, and some in Disney. Although Disney was very quick to clean up there were still signs of the hurricanes. One morning they were cutting down a tree at our hotel that was damanged.
Crowd levels were great - but being our first time what do I know. All I can tell you is the longest we waited for any ride was 15 to 20 minutes (MS & TOT). Most were less than 5 minutes or so. Fantasmic we waited 2 hours as the lines were forming as we walked by so we got in line. We know now that there really isn't a bad seat, some better than others but we got the package for this year. Even MNSSHP was great crowd wise. We are going again this October but we pushed it back to the last of October. Hoping for even better weather and crowd levels although the free dining at the first of the month has the crowd levels rising. I think we are going to try Feb. next. ![]()
