Icon1 Just got back from WDW, need to rant a bit

Okay, I just got back from Disney World and I've got a few things I feel I should point out. There are a lot of really stupid people. WDW seems to bring out the stupidity in people. Here's my list of ways to not be one of those people. Feel free to add to it; maybe we can publish a book that has to be read before you can enter the park.

1. Understand how lines work. Don't stick one person in line and then try to bring the other 19 members of your party through the line to catch up with them. That's really not cool.

2. Understand how the fastpasses work. Don't get mad if, while standing in the standby line, you decide that the other line looks better and go through the railing and up to the front of the line and then get denied because you don't have a fastpass. There's a reason there aren't more people in that line.

3. While walking, don't suddenly decide to just stop and look at your map in the middle of the path. Especially if you're in the exit queue of a ride. It's understandable to not know where you're going; just pull off to the side of the path before pulling the map out. Don't get mad when the person directly behind you runs into you when you decide to stop suddenly. And definitely don't suddenly decide to turn back and go directly back in the direction you just came from.

4. If you do accidently cut someone off, say excuse me. Don't expect anything in response. It's not that the other people are rude; it's that they're in shock because they've been cut off 19,564 times already that day and you're the first person to say excuse me. You will have made your point, as you will be mentioned in stories about the trip. Such as "Remember when that lady in Epcot said 'Excuse me'?"

5. If you're in a party of 26 people, don't walk side by side holding hands. Especially if you have one or more strollers in your party. The path is not big enough. Remember that you are not the only people in the park and that other people might be trying to get past your human wall.

6. If you're standing in a line that isn't using all the available queue space, don't let your children run up ahead in the closed queue space. Especially if your children are those from Village of the ****ed. They are huge pests and are making other people want to kill them and you.

7. While in line, don't repeatedly step on the back of the shoe of the person in front of you. This makes them feel very un-disney-like. People who do this deserve to be repeatedly poked in the face with a fork. Realize that there are 489 people in front of you in line and that being 9 inches closer isn't really helping.

8. Don't run your kid's stroller into the back of other people's legs. This is extremely annoying, both to the person with bruised calf muscles and to your kid. This makes the person with bruised calf muscles want to pick up your stroller and beat you with it. If your 2-year old could get himself out of that stroller, he would kick you in the shin for repeatedly shoving his feet into other people's legs and his face into their butts.

9. When you see someone sitting on the side for a half hour before the parade starts, that means that they took the time to reserve a great view for the parade. It is not cool when you and your dumb family park yourselves in front of them at the last second. Your large head is not a window, so please get it out of the way. (Thanks to Scapp70)

10: While walking down a crowded path, do not mistake parents with strollers (or people in wheelchairs) for large rocks or statues. They are not large rocks or statues, and do not appreciate your stupidity. Do not climb over or around them. They are trying to get to the same place you are. If you do climb over or around them, you are volunteering your calf muscles for target practice. (Thanks to robinmouse and MommytoMJM)

11. While at a restaraunt, don't spread your crap out over different tables just to keep the seats. Especially if you are not eating. If you are not sitting at that table, it is acceptable for other people to just take your stuff and sit it on the floor.

12. It seems that most people, after standing in a "fast" food line for 20 minutes, have absolutely no clue as to what they want to eat. In fact, they don't seem to know what type of food is even served there. In addition, they have to quiz every person in the family as to what they want to eat, to drink, the condiments and side dishes they prefer and so forth. It's like they never met any of them before. While waiting in line for your food, try looking at the menu while you are standing there. Give your kids 2 choices and let them pick one and make them stick to it. Do the same with beverage choices. When you get to the window, place your order and get the **** out of the way. And while you're at it, have your money out and ready in the pay line. What did you think, it was free? So get your wallet out of your purse and be ready, pay for your food and scram, so someone else can do the same and can actually eat before their food is fossilized. (Thanks to tarabunga66rf)

Re: Just got back from WDW, need to rant a bit

Great Advice LOL!
This is all very simple, it is the way that we want to be treated. The families that are walking hand in hand dont want anyone to get in their way, but they just dont realize that in turn, they are doing the same thing to the families behind them. I think that we all are just so excited to be at Disney and we want to do our own things that we are sometimes just to wrapped up in the whole experience to realize what we are, or not doing. But granted, we ran into many guests ourselves that just didnt care and they were going to push there way through anywhere. I think I still have the bruised ankles to prove it.

Great Advice!

I'll definitely keep that in mind when I'm there. I hope to be written up as a polite person. LOL

LOL!!!! This is all so true ! It does seem as if people lose all their manners and sensibility once they enter those turnstiles. That always drives me crazy.

LOL, what a great line. I'll use that in my signature. Yeah, I had a blast. It's amazing how overrated some rides are, while others are so underrated. I couldn't believe how short the lines were for Haunted Mansion. Always been one of my favorites, plus it's in the AC.

Re: Just got back from WDW, need to rant a bit

LOL! I think a lot of this is due to the summer heat and the crowd levels. We got back 2 weeks ago and experienced much of the same. I will not go back in July again. It seems that WDW gets invaded by the South American tour groups at this time.

While I encountered some polite people in these groups, I still have to take issue that when a couple of them are in line ahead of us, the rest of the group decides to pile in with them. I don't know if it was to experience the ride together or just keep the same color of their shirts together like a school of fish. It makes for a tougher time in those que areas.

Hope you had an enjoyable trip otherwise and look forward in comparing your experiences to ours during this time.

LOL. I forgot about them. Here's my flag. Follow it! I'd hate to be the person who has to carry the flag around all day.

It is an area under Mouse Trap, you will not be able to see it until you have reached 100 posts. You can talk about anything there! Everyone just has fun. That will give you some motivation to get that trip report going!

Question: If I am pushing a stroller and someone cuts in front of me, then stops and pulls out a map, Do I then have the green light?
