Fun with the In-laws...what can I plan

OK everyone... I need your help! My inlaws (mil and fil, and sil) who I LOVE dearly-seriously...along with DH and I and the boys are going on a Disney Cruise. We are going the first Saturday in December for a week. My sil, dh and I and the boys are going a few days earlier so that we can go to MK etc. Anyways... I think that MIL and FIL are coming on Friday and I really want to do something special with them. There will be 7 of us (the boys are 3 & 5). Any suggestions? prices for events would be helpful too. Can we get special seating for fireworks? a fireworks boat ride...anything???
Thanks!
Holly

ps...Hi Cavey!

There IS a fireworks boat ride for the Illuminations display that I know about off the top of my head. I THINK you can have up to 12 people on it and it's $120.00. You want to book ASAP, though, because it's pretty popular. I have yet to do it, but I'm seriously thinking of it for my next trip for the 6 of us!

Here is some info from allearsnet.com regarding the fireworks cruises:

I think the prices recently went up.

We just did the IllumiNations cruise again and it was wonderful. However, with the big price change I'm not sure we'll be doing it again. We paid $150 plus tip but in October the price almost doubles. Now you get snacks and drinks, not worth over $100 more for the smae cruise. I am so disappointed.

Re: Fun with the In-laws...what can I plan

Yep, the price is going up substantially, but for a special outing in WDW this one can't be beat. We did the Illuminations cruise for my mom's birthday and it was incredible! It's easily my best memory of WDW. You can call for reservations 90 days in advance (1-407-wdwplay) and you should treat it like CRT -- start calling at 6:58AM and cross your fingers (it's a very tough ticket to get!).

If you don't get the cruise, you might also want to check to see if there's a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that night -- that would be a blast to do with the whole family, I'm sure!

We're taking my MIL and GrandMIL to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue in October. Your kids (like mine) are a little young to "get" all the jokes, but my 4 year old still loved it last year!! :) It's great for the whole family!

We did the Hoop Dee Doo again last week and loved it. The food was good and the show was so funny.

Re: Fun with the In-laws...what can I plan

There's also a few other cruises too, not just the one for Illuminations. There's one that takes you around bay lake and stuff, and then they have a sound system for you to hear the wishes music, and they try to position you perfectly in front of the castle so you get a great view, but without annoying tall people standing in front of you. You could also do the Hoop Dee Doo, then take the wagon ride to see the fireworks from across bay lake. The little ones would probably enjoy being pulled by the horses. Although the HDD is probably a lot more since it's about 50$ a person vs 150$ for the entire group on a boat. Oh and the wagon ride is 8$ a person. If your little guys like the Fantasmic, you can get the dinner and show. I think it's between 22$-35$ for each person.

Re: Fun with the In-laws...what can I plan

We did the Hoop Dee Doo review for Christmas dinner this past year with MIL, FIL, BIL, SIL, DH, I and our three boys. It was the highlight of our trip and the price was 50 ea adult- the 2 yr olds are free and I'm not sure of the price of the kids dinner. Honestly- the best dinner- we're going back in February- already made my reservations.

Ok...it's between the Hoop Dee Doo and the Fantasmic Dinner and Show...how do I decide. If there's inclimate weather and we do Fantasmic then were out of luck

Re: Fun with the In-laws...what can I plan

I say do Hoop Dee Doo..that way you can make the reservation and it will work even if the weather is poopy. You can do Fantasmic, with out the dinner package, on the day you visit Disney Studios, or if the weather is bad...go back a different day.

Between those two choices I would pick the Hoop Dee Doo, it's great family fun. Like others have said, you can do Fantasmic any evening the weather is nice.

Yep...this is my vote too! To me, HDD and Fantasmic! don't even compare -- but I'm not a huge Fantasmic! fan either. I say HDD all the way!!!
