Disneyland Neglect?

Trying to plan the perfect trip to Disneyland for my 2 1/2 year old daughter I have been spending alot of time on the internet trying to pick up tips. I have learned so much and thank to all those who have provided me with useful tips such as keeping a bottle of bubbles in my purse, to blow if my little one gets impatient in line. BUTTTTTT...

I have also reading how neglected Disneyland has become, with lightbulbs not being changed to the paint peeling off the rides and buildings. One of the more distrubing stories was on Mouseplanet regarding mold and rats in Goofys Kitchen. Does anyone have any REAL information on these things? Urban tales spread on the internet like wildfire and I need to make some decisions...Next Friday we have reservations at Goofys Kitchen for breakfast and Blue Bayou for dinner.

When we were there last February, I didn't notice any dis-repair anywhere in the entire resort. We spent three days there over a week, and had a great time. That being said, there were some major problems at WDW last year at this time, as Disney cut back on some ongoing projects. The same may have happened at Disneyland as well, though they have since fixed most all of the problems at WDW.

Blue Bayou was closed in February for rehab, so it should be as good as new. Great restaurant, medeocre food. Goofy's Kitchen has been great each time we go.

Hi Sierrasmom -
Being that I just got back from 3 days Disneyland 2 weeks ago - I'm going to have to report that none of what you've heard appears to be true. I found Disneyland to be so quaint and magical, that I did not notice any kind of disrepair - quite actually the opposite.
As for Goofy's kitchen - I didn't notice the above mentioned problems. I had a great breakfast there - Your daughter will love it - There was a higher concentration of characters there all at once- and they dance with the kids as well. The look on those kids faces STILL makes me sentimental.
For a 2 1/2 year old - don't forget to stop by the new A BUG'S LAND in California Adventure. There were lots of cute things for toddlers to do there. And the shows- I think little children get more a kick out seeing the characters than anything else.
Don't know if you've seen them yet, but if you want proof that Disneyland hasn't lost it's magic, check out my recent photos from the trip (click on the www below this post).
Have a great time!!!
:)

Some of the stuff you are referring to is mentioned in the Mouse Tales books, but I was there a year ago and did not notice it. The only difference I have noticed from my more recent trips to the parks is it seems the rides are breaking down more often than they used to. I don't know. But overall I still think Disneyland by itself is the best of all the Disney theme parks.

Have fun and be ready to ride Dumbo and the Carousel about 20 times each.:laugh
