Tikki Room - Old or New?

Is anyone else like me? I want the old Tikki Room back!!! Don't like the new music one bit and that Tikki godess is enough to scar the pants off small children with her glowing eyes!!!! Sign me a "Purest-at-Heart" in PA......

The old Tiki Room is still alive and kicking at Disneyland. I prefer that version much more than the newer one. I agree, they should do something with the version at WDW, it has lost a lot of it's great qualities.

I guess I'm a little of both... I think the Tiki Goddess is a great improvement, but I love the old show much better than the one now, and Zazu and Iago can just leave.:p

OLD! One of the highlights of our trip to Disneyland was to see the orginal Tiki, and my kids (9 & 13) loved it!

But I like the orginal Country bears also.

Tiki Room - Old or NEW

I much prefer the old Tiki room. Last year I was really disappointed since I had made such a big deal about it and the first timers were not that impressed.

Definitely OLD! What the heck were they thinking with the premise of the new version? :weird:

Hands Down the OLD Tikki Room RULED! I also liked the old Country Bear's routine as well.....don't the "people up there" know the ol' saying - "if it isn't broken, don't fix it"?

Still looking forward to my upcoming trips though....and my DOLE WHIP!

Having just seen the "OLD" Tikki Room for the first time just a couple of weeks ago in CA, I must confess I think I would like to see a cross between both. I had always been warned NOT to go to that "waste of time" attraction during my early visits to WDW - but when my DGF (Is that how you say it? :p ) and I went we made it a point to see everything, including this, which, at the time was "Under New Management" :p
Having been huge fans of both Aladdin and The Lion King, we were THRILLED to find the new owners were Iago and Zazu, and I thought the gags were great fun, if a bit much.

I think the original show is very, very dated. Cute. Mild. But - there's one point in it where NOTHING seems to be happening (I think it's when the flowers sing - I taped the whole thing for my DGF). I think a combination of both shows, or something just a BIT more exciting would be fun.
My vote then, is for the new one. :D

gotta go with geeman on this one

The old tikki room was sooo dated and generally boring to todays audience. In the '50 island music was interesting. Now not so much. While is had the charm of being Walt's vision that dosen't keep most people going back. The new one is fun and funny. It is much better suited to todays audence.

Though many of the old rides were dated I still missed Inner Space at Disneyland, Horizon at Epcot, Mr Toad Wild Ride at MK, and of course Dream maker at EPCOT. They could had taken out Universe of Energy and made room for the new Space ride. Many of the old ride were fun because you remember them from the time you were a kid and would had love to past them on to our grand children when they are young and carefree.

I rather look forward to a nice, calm, boring ride intermixed with the newer thrill rides!! Its nice to be able to sit back with an old friend and relax for a moment. To know its safe to take the kids on and the line will be short. To let your senses dull for just a bit (and the air conditioning to take effect). To reguevenate for just a moment before the Imagineers bombard you with every conceivable light, sound, movement, and special effect. Three cheers for the boring rides! Hip Hip Hooray!!!!

Definitely the old over the new. I do find the old one does drag, but the new one (although I love Iago and Zazu) becomes downright offensive. I think if Iago was just gone, it would be a lot better. The "real" birds are told to shut up, and Iago says he needs a nap so he'll had over to the Hall of Presidents -- WHAT were they thinking??? It's bad enough if vacationeers insult the rides for being boring, but for WDW itself to do it... Could there be anything more against Walt??? I wish they had preserved all of the rides the way Walt intended them so it could be like a musuem to him. Anyone can make a stupid roller coaster, but only Walt thought about making the birdies sing.

I hate to be a part of the minority but the new tikki is so much better. We used to go to the old one for our naps and to cool off from the heat!
