Fun Question? When Do You Pack For Disney?

We are leaving on Sunday, Sept. 25th, early in the morning. I would like to know how people get ready for their trips beforehand? I know I will be the one to pack everyones' bags and get their butts out of bed at 5:00 am that morning to be at the airport by 7am. My husband is excited by he leaves all the details up to me. He told me to just get him there and he will enjoy himself. Thanks honey... I am the one who is ecstatic and I have another 38 days to wait- come on baby......

I start making sure all our "play clothes" are clean about a week and a half before hand. I usually pack my DS first because he's got so many clothes it doesn't matter how far in advance I do his. I'll do mine next (about 3-4 days out) and DH's last (the night before). It never fails, if I pack DH's stuff too early he'll decide he wants to wear "those shorts" but doesn't tell me so they don't get washed and put back before the trip. If he started pulling socks or underwear out that would spell real trouble!

I pack everyone a couple of days before we leave. My DS is the easiest because I know he won't go through the suitcases looking for something to wear. If I pack too early my DH and I end up going through and pulling out our favorite clothes to wear.

I pack my DS is gallon ZipLock bags. In each bag I put a pair of shorts, a matching shirt, socks, and underwear. It's so easy then to grab a bag and throw it on the bed and tell him to get dressed while I continue to get ready.

If we fly I mix things up and pack a few things for everyone in each suitcase. That way if a bag gets lost no one is w/o clothes since we all have stuff in each bag.

I usually start 3 weeks before washing all the summer stuff. Since we dont leave till November and here in Michigan we cant wear shorts in November so it is easy to start early. but this year will be harder DH said only 1 suitcase and cant go over 50 pounds
and we will each have out back pack carryons. YIKES!!

Is now to soon? I leave on October 19th!

I have already started but I have purchased some new things just for the trip so when the packages started arriving, I opened them and put the right into the suitcases. I have also started buying the little things like batteries for the digital cameras, travel size deodorants, etc., and just put them right into the suitcases. I will have to re-pack everything but....I am packing already! I just can't wait to get there!

When we go in December or January it is easy to pack the shorts, t's and tanks beforehand because we are wearing winter clothes here is Massachusetts. The rest of the stuff for myself and DS usually gets washed and packed 1 - 2 days before. DBF usually waits till the night before when we all go to bed then he stays up and packs his stuff (he says that way there is no one talking to him or interupting him so he doesn't forget anything).

I have already started packing little things for my October trip. I will start to put clothes in the suitcase (bathing suits and things we aren't using everyday) about a month before. I already have my travel size stuff and toiletries(sp?) pack and bought. I have all the packing lists made and know exactly what I need to buy and/or pack.

We are still wearing our summer stuff here in Buffalo- very hot this summer. I guess that is to my advantage because at least I don't have to pull anything out of hibernation to pack for the trip. I have buying little things as I go along so it wouldn't hurt my pocketbook as much- new luggage, a nice digital camera, walkie talkies, that kind of stuff. I have figured out that you really have to plan plan plan for this trip. It will be all worth it in the end.

I usually start to buy the basics (shampoos, sunscreens, soaps etc) about 3 months out. That way I don't have to go on a huge shopping trip and the expenses get spread out. Then about a month before, I start getting things together. DH and DS get all excited when they see the boxes start to fill up. They know it is really close then. And finally, about 2 weeks out, I start with the clothes. That's when it gets hard, especially when they are wearing the summer stuff I need to pack.

There is never enough planning because you always come home saying we missed this or that.

I start packing or "gathering" a few things together (like bug spray, rain ponchos, Micky themed clothes like the Princess outfit for Cindy's, etc) a few months in advance. But the real packing is about a week ahead of time.

I start packing waaaaaayyy ahead of time. We live in Michigan and cannot go any other time than November. It's cold here then, so we don't need our summer clothes and it's no big deal to pack early.

That is an excellent idea, DT. My guys are too old for this but I wish that I had thought of that when they were younger. It might, however, still work for DH who always expects me to put "a man" on the bed so he doesn't have to guess.

And mixing up everyones clothes is something I do as well. Makes too much sense should one of the bags get lost.

I get out the luggage about 2 weeks before my trip, and throw in a few things I know I won't need between now and the trip. (Sunscreen, flip-flops, etc.)

Then I make myself wait and wait and wait...even though I'm DYING to pack...telling myself that I can't pack until a week before. And I always end up freaking out the night before the trip and packing everything then!

Every single time, never fails.

I like to print out my packing lists & have them laminated...then I can use a dry erase marker to mark things off as I pack them; then erase them and re-check everything at the last minute.
