Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

Do the new EMH at night just make that park way too crowded???? Is it worth it??? Also, I am going September 17 - 23.....do I really need to take a rest each day or can I just go early and tour till were tired and go back to resort for an evening swim???? TIA.

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

I think it just depends on the park and the time of year. We went to EMH at MK in the middle of May. It was the absolute best time I have ever had at any Disney park! No lines at all!

But then....we went to EMH at Epcot. Terrible!!!!!! Couldn't ride anything because of the long lines and there was no place to eat!

I'm sure in the peak season though it would not be so fun no matter which park you were in.

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

We went in July/August and evening EMH at the MK was packed. We like to get to the park early and get as much done as we can, head out for a break then return to a non-EMH park for a few hours in the evening.

I'm personally hoping for the best...we're more "late" people, rather than "early" people...so, I'm hoping EMH is going to work for us.

WDWSpider says it best - he always says "Either way, 3 extra hours at Disney, is three EXTRA hours at Disney!"

He's right! You're still going to get SOMETHING accomplished if you attend.

You are right, Erin. No matter how long the lines you are still going to get something done. We didn't really pay a lot of attention but the longest line we saw during evening EMH was 30 minutes for Big Thunder. We were just too tired from our early start to stand in line. I could have kept going but my DS fell sound asleep by 11 or so and I wasn't going to make him stay awake.

I agree that it depends on the time of year and the crowds. I thought the MK was the most crowded I have ever witnessed during the evening EMH a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty scary looking and much too crowded to enjoy the park.

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

As for the EMH in the evening, people are reporting that they have been super busy this summer. I didn't experience that in January and it should be bad traveling in September. I could be completely wrong here because the parks may be a little more busy in September due to the free dining that was being offered. AS for breaks, you do what works best for you. If you don't need a break, then don't take one. I personally try to take one every day. I find that the little annoying things don't bother me if I am rested and fresh. If I tour all day, I tend to get cranky and aggrevated over little things that shouldn't bother me. It's just a matter of personal preference. Take it as it comes and do what works for you.

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

I agree with Dana here--we toured MK during EMH in May and it was fine, not too crowded at all (and I'm very sensitive to crowds). I think in September, a traditionally low-crowd time, you'll be fine working EMH parks into your schedule. Usually all of my well-made plans go out the window once we're actually at WDW, so the best advice is to pay attention to how your family is feeling and work your vacation around that. If you're supposed to be spending the afternoon in a park but you're tired, go back to the resort and take a nap. If you're supposed to be having a down night and getting to bed early but everyone's still raring to go, head to an EMH park.

I am trying to decide this, too. We are going to WDW in October and I am trying to decide of the evening EMH will be worth it, especially at MGM and MK. Maybe some of those people going in September can reoprt back and lewt us know if crowds are down from the summer months like in May for EMH??

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

We went from July 11 to July 22nd...I have never experienced the parks more crowded at that time. We are not morning people so we found that EMH in the evening was the way to go. However the first hour of the EMH were very crowded after that it was fine.

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

EMH worked great for my family. We were there at the end of July, and it was crowded of course, but on our MK EMH night we did all three mountains, Buzz, and HM. We didn't stay the whole 3 hours, we just did what we wanted to do till we were tired. It was great! I'm sure in a less busy time it would be even better. :)

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

We are going in late October and hoping that the EMH will be worth it. We are hoping to go back to the hotel to rest in the afternoon and then enjoy the EMH in the late evening.

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

I am also trying to decide whether we should try EMH at MK or just avoid MK all together on its EMH day when we go in late September. I guess I will wait until some people with earlier September trips report back!

Re: Is everyone trying to avoid EMH in the evening????

When we went in late April I think we did the opposite of what everyone else did. If there was an early EMH at Epcot, then we went to rope drop at MGM. Our bus was empty! We're morning people, so we didn't stay late at any parks. And the word "nap" is not in my almost 6 yo DS's vocabulary. Whenever we went back to the resort, he didn't want to rest, he wanted to go straight for the pool! You just have to see how your family fares and surely go for the late EMH if they're up to it!
