Family Magic Tour

We just took the Family Magic Tour in at the Magic Kingdom and it was wonderful. It is set up as a treasure hunt, we were looking for Captain Hook's hook that was lost. We had a great time acting silly as we made our way through the MK. I won't give you any of the details since that would ruin the fun and surprise but we had a blast. I think this this fits family with kids 4-12 the best. We had 4 kids who ranged in age from 5-17 and they all enjoyed it but the 17 year old would have rather been riding rides. We ended our tour by going to Mickey's PhilharMagic with Peter Pan and Wendy. It was so great to watch my DS hang our with Peter Pan for about 30 minutes.

I thought this tour could only be booked at 90 days out but that's not the case. Right now you can book the tour through the end of the year (2005). I guess we got lucky because we didn't call until 90 days out and still got 8 people in. The CM who lead our tour said it is usually a sell out so book as early as you can.

The tour runs every day at 10 am and the cost is $25 per person plus park admission. There are discounts (AP and DVC) so be sure to inquire when you call to book.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I wonder if our then 13 year olds would like it. I know I would. I am also interested in the keys to the kingdom (? correct name?) tour. I love behind the scene stuff of any kind. But they won't have kids under 16.

Can your boys act silly and forget that people are watching them? We had an almost 12 year old with us and she enjoyed it, she was right up front with the map the whole time.

I agree -- we did this tour in May and my almost 5 yo LOVED it! He got to ride IASW right next to Peter Pan! The tour was fun and silly...great for the kids!

Do you get to see any of the backstage areas at all?

No, we didn't go to any backstage areas during the tour. We were right out in the park with everyone else doing our silly things. During the times we were with Peter Pan and Wendy there were CMs there to make sure no one who wasn't in our tour got close to them. It was really special to have that one-on-one time with a character for so long. We would do the tour again even w/o the characters, it was fun.

Based on this thread, I just booked the tour for 10 days from today. I guess I was lucky to get in. My 9yo DD will surely love it!!

It sounds great! I have a 7 yr old and 5 yr old so it would be perfect for them!

I'm not DT - but the tour is about two hours and you traverse pretty much the whole park. Only one ride or show is included - at the end. The rest is a sort of scavenger type hunt that leads to either the "missing hook" or in our case the "reversing spell" -- the story for the day changes occasionally, but the basic tour stays the same. It's great fun!!!

I think it's an ongoing thing...you can book pretty far in advance. Call the tour number and ask about it!!

I don't see this tour ending, it has been going on since at least 1997. I hope you get a chance to take the tour, it was one of the highlights of my trip.

I've now talked to my parents and my sister. It appears that the only people who will be taking this tour is me, Carol, my boys, and my mom. I need to find out more about it--are you alone with your own special tour guide? Or are you in a large group of people? Do you get to meet Peter and Wendy and Captain Hook/Smee? How about Tinkerbell?

This just sounds awesome!!!!!!!

Yes, I would also like more details about the group that goes. Is there more than your family? Approximately how many? Is there more than one CM? Do they stay with you for the entire "hunt"?

Three MNSSHPs and one MVMCP under our belt. Resorts = CSR, ASMo, POP, ASSports, POR, CBR, OKW & POFQ Mom to two precious boys!! The ONLY MBer I've met...KingOMiami!! (Even though Kip and I are practically neighbors!! ) (I really KNOW MICKEYMom - not just from MB!!)
