Icon14 Praise to Disney!! So much greater than other theme parks!

We went to Disney in July (not our first trip) and it was great. All the CM's were friendly, happy and always helpful. They acted like they wanted to be there and that it wan't just a bad job to go to everyday. The resorts and parks were all clean...even after the storm come thru and leaves were everywhere they cleaned them up overnight. The food was good and a little expensive but not like other places. The stores were cool even with the doors open (nice to pop in to cool off). All stollers had names on them. Times for shows were posted. Signs everywhere with helpful info and directions for rides. Nothing but the best from Disney!
We just got back for Six Flags (got free tickets) and true it was HOT but it was HOT at Disney too. There were hardly any lines but they seemed to still take a while to get on the ride. There were leaves and stuff on all the walkways and there were not enough signs to help you find the info you needed. Ex...when you walk in the front of the park we couldn't find the stroller rentals. We ask and found them around the corner. I was greated by a not so friendly employee and the prices were not posted anywhere. There was a peg board (with a sheet of paper peged to it with no info on it) on the wall beside the low-rent looking cashier area. She got me a stroller (after clearing away all her personal items she had on the desk) and there is no way to tag the stroller with your name or anything. About an hour or two later it was stollen while we were on a ride so my son had to walk the rest of the way (after spending $13 for a single stroller). It was too far to walk to get another one in that heat. When I got back around to the stroller area they acted like it was no big deal that it was stollen and give me $5 back. The monster boat ride was another lovely addition to my day. They employee loading people on the boats never cracked a smile or said a word to any of the guest getting on the boats. I kept telling myself that he might be having a bad day or feeling bad (we had just got over being sick and I knew how that felt). There was a yellow line to stand behind at the edge of the loading dock and water but the kids waiting on the next boat had there feet hanging off the edge looking for their boats. The employee (nor parents) didn't say a word - or even look at them for that matter. We finally got a boat and were on our way. When we got in the building part of the ceiling was hanging down in places and it wasn't for the effect of the ride. Then one boat got stuck and a person in the boat behind them got out into the water and had to push them to get them going. We could have got out of our boat and had a party in there an no one would have known. Several times we tried to go into a store to cool off and it was almost as hot inside as it was outside. No cooling off in this park. The river rapids ride was great and I got soaked - I was still dripping with water an hour later. It was so hot I didn't mind. I don't mean to trash Six Flags. We still had fun and I hope they do well. They have great roller coasters! It wasn't to busy and it scares me that they might be hurting for business. They have lots of fun rides but it just made me appreciated Disney that much more. It really does show in the details! Oh and for those fussing about the cost of drinks at Disney they really aren't that high at $2.00 a bottle . The water at the Six Flags was $3.00 a bottle and at Turner Field Braves game the water cost $4.00!! Disney really does have there act together and is really top notch! If anyone wants to fuss about them just travel and visit some other parks and they might think twice about saying anything bad. Just wanted to share...Praise to Disney! Thanks for reading.

I Have to say, Disney beats everything else. Friendliness, cleanliness, everything! I am glad you had a good time. I can only recall one bad Disney Vacation, and that was just the hotel (nonDisney) and the ride home (we broke down and got stuck in some strange little town) But the disney part was great! Oh, and that was the trip when we went to Six Flags, I hated it and I will never go there again!!

Walt Disney World is the best! I have been to other theme and amusement parks and nothing comes close to Disney. The rides, the atmosphere, the staff are all the best at WDW. Disney rocks!

Re: Praise to Disney for being so greater than other theme parks!

I have to agree. Disney raises the bar that all others try to match and fail. Sure other theme parks, etc are nice, nothing or nobody beats Disney. Disney has one thing the others don't, the magic to make you feel like a kid again. That is something I would not want to give up!!!

Yeah, I don't know how they do it but they are really the best! Most of the time every detail is taken care of. I knew this already but when I went to Six Flags this weekend it made them shine that much more!

I noticed someone voted for Carowinds. I haven't been in years. How is it lately? Are they as really kid geared as they say on tv? Just wondering....

Re: Praise to Disney for being so greater than other theme parks!

Everyone has said it! Disney is the best! I wanted to comment about six flags, we used to go all the time back when I thought it was too expensive to visit disney we even had season passes. I have not been back to six flags since I had my first trip to disney in 2003, in my opinion nothing compares to the feeling you get when you first see the gates leading on property or the castle, ok I am going to stop before I start crying....you get the idea!

Re: Praise to Disney for being so greater than other theme parks!

I get goose bumps all over just thinking about my upcoming trip. I think about the look in my 2yo DD eyes as she sees WDW for the first time. The wonder of my DW and DD as they enjoy all the WDW. Rebecca is too young and may not remember it all but that feeling is something she will hold onto forever. Disney is MAGIC

We only do Disney. Because I want it that way and I am the only person in my family to find this sort of thing wonderful. My men would much rather do the "Let's go to Alaska and hike for 3 weeks" sort of vacation.

Long live Walt Disney World
