MVMCP a must?
Hi, all. Going 12/7-12/12 & after reading other reviews on other websites about MVMCP, not sure it's such a good deal. With a 4 & 2 year-old, & doing MNSSHP when we go end of Sept., what would we miss by not doing MVMCP? Will the lights still be on the night (12/10) CP is not offered? Meeting my mom & sister for that weekend, who want to see as many lights as possible.
Also, 4 year old is pressing us to let her do Soarin'. She meets the height of 40 inches, so has anybody else done it? Thanks! Love the sight!! Gives me something to do at work!! |

Re: MVMCP a must?
Welcome to DC. Haven't ever did the MVMCP, but it sounds wonderful. IU would think it would be worth doing. If lights are your main goal that evening, then head to MGM and hang out there and skip the party. I don't understand why CP isn't being offered....that's silly. Did you try to book it?

Re: MVMCP a must?
Welcome to DC! Hope you like it here. Unfortunately I haven't done MVMCP either - though it sounds like a lot of fun. I agree with Dana - you'll find that I always agree with Dana, lol (well, maybe not always) - but MGM is the place for lights. Anywhere you go at Christmas, the decorations are beautiful. As for Soarin' - if she meets the height requirement, I'd let her try it.

Re: MVMCP a must?
Opinions vary quite a bit on MVMCP, I don't think it's such a great deal myself. The parade and fireworks are great but. Other than that you can see anything else the rest of the time. It was very crowded when we went last year, It was during the week and the middle of the month but I can't remember the date. I had expected it to be a lot less crowded so that really disappointed me. See how much you like the Halloween party and go from there. I looked on allears.net and they have CP listed for the 10th.

I have been on Sorin' several times and it's very much a family ride. My 7 year old loved it as did the 5 year old we were with. There isn't anything scary about it other than the height if that's a factor.

Re: MVMCP a must?
We always go in Dec. and have never done the MVMCP because we can see all those things without going to it. The Christmas parade runs while we are there in place of the regular 3 o'clock parade. I LOVE that parade!

Re: MVMCP a must?
I've got tickets to the Dec. 11th MVMCP this year and I'm pretty excited to go. I've done MNSSHP 3 times and really enjoyed it, so I figured I should check out the other party. I've read some not-so-great reviews of it, but I've also heard from some die-hard fans. I also feel that if you have the opportunity to try someting out, you should go ahead and try it at least once. In addition, early December is historically pretty quiet for WDW, so I'm guessing that during the dates you'll be there the party won't be all that crowded.
As for Soarin', I sat next to a three-year-old on it last May--your 4 yr. old will be fine, I'm sure. :) It's really a family friendly ride, and they have some pretty hefty seatbelts for the little ones.

Re: MVMCP a must?
I went to MVMCP a few times when I was younger, and I LOVED it, I'd love to go again. But if you just want to see the lights and decorations, I wouldn't pay extra for the party. There are lights and everything all over WDW, especially MGM. They're gorgeous! I love WDW at Christmas!
And as for Soarin.. I am quite possibly the biggest chicken ever. I was shaking, I was so nervous to try it!! But I did it and it is now my favorite ride in all of WDW! It is so gentle - you barely notice you're moving. The most movement there is is at the very beginning before the ride even starts, when it lifts you up to the right position. I think your 4 yr old would be fine. There are seat belts for children that come up through their legs. :)

Jeany, I don't think they're on sale, yet. But, they cost around 35-40 dollars for adults.
:c) When they go on sale, you can purchase them just like any other ticket - through the website (I think???) and by calling central reservations.

Re: MVMCP a must?
MVMCP is a fun night. There are loads of special events going on, special parade, etc. If money isn't an issue, then I'd say you should go try it at least once for yourself.

Re: MVMCP a must?
Thanks for your input!!! Does anyone recall how late MK stays open on non-MVMCP nights? Also, with the time change, what time does it get dark in Orlando during December?
I think MGM will be the way to go. Also I hear Epcot's walkway into the world showcase is pretty cool. Also have a free pass to Universal, so I'm looking forward to seeing their Grinch set-up!! Off the subject---how do I get one of those cool countdown clocks??!! |
