Icon2 phone services

When we eventually get back to WDW, we will be using cell phones from Virgin Mobile. Does anyone have any comments on how well this service works there in Orlando, or even if it is availablr there
Thanks

Re: phone services

Not sure about your service, but we have Sprint and have never had a drop call in any of the parks or resorts.

Re: phone services

I have Virgin mobile pay-as-you-go. We had no problems at all staying in touch with our late teenagers (they have sprint)in the parks and calling back home to parents.

Re: phone services

Considering the number of visitors to the area and the population, I'd be suprised that there was really bad service from any carrier.

Nobody wants to tick off their customers at the Happiest Place on Earth do they now?!?

I've had Verizon and Alltel and both worked well (too well perhaps) throughout MCO area.

Re: phone services

I used my cingular service and my DBF had T-mobile. We had no problems calling each other in the parks at all.

Re: phone services

Another Cingular user here. We had 6 Cingular phones with us this summer (6 adults in our group) and we didn't lose a single call during our whole vacation. We were always calling each other to meet up and didn't have a problem.

Re: phone services

Some useless Disney trivia....there are actually some cell towers in the parks...they look like trees so you don't notice them.
My service used to be AT&T and is now Alltel and I have had no problems with reception in the parks.

Re: phone services

Personally? I can't see why Virgin would have any issues. Be really funny if they did have problems. I mean, there's a Virgin store in DTD that sells the service...

Just do NOT forget your phone charger!

Re: phone services

Cingular usually works pretty good for me. At Grad Night I had a heck of a time... but that just could be because of all the kids using their cell phones all at once.. I don't know, I don't really know how cell phones work.

Re: phone services

Did I mention that we have T-Mobile? Worked great for us.

Or, rather, it would have if I hadn't been stupid and forgot my charger... You know, the deluxe resorts really need to have chargers for various kinds of phones, just on the off chance that they get a stupid tourist (like me) who comes in without theirs. I would have paid rent for it...
