Icon1 Mousefest 2005

Is there anyone here on DC planning on attending Mousefest this year? I know there are several of you that will be in WDW during that time (November 30th thru Dec 6th)

And does anyone know: will there be DC representation at the Mega Meet? Last year Turnwrench and his lovely wife hosted the DC table. I only helped out a little bit.

For those of you who may not be familiar with Mousefest, it's a gathering of Disney fan internet communities. There are many organized meets and activities, including the Mega Mouse Meet which is a convention of sorts held in a ballroom at the Swolphin at 1:00pm on Saturday Dec 3rd. If you have some time to stop by, there are lots of neat prizes and freebies given out at the tables. You can also meet the guidebook authors and the hosts of all the websites we rely on for our info, like Deb Wills of allearsnet and Mary Waring of Mousesavers, etc.

Pretty much everything is free and loads of fun. Here's a link to the calendar of official events:
Mousefest Calendar

Last year they had reserved all the Illuminations Cruise boats for that week and didn't release them to MF attendees until about a month before. There were 10 people to a boat, so you only paid 1/10 the price of the rental.

Also, FYI: I'm hosting a karaoke meet on Saturday December 3rd at Kimonos (sushi bar and restaurant in the Swan) after 9pm. It's not on the official calendar because I didn't want it to get overly crowded, but I'd love to meet some of the DC folks.

Re: Mousefest 2005

Turnwrench will be there again this year. We have an event we will be sponsoring, and I am sure he will be happy to set up something informal as well.

My understanding is that Mary from Mousesavers will not be there this year. All the guidebook authors and other webmasters will be there as usual. They have some great improvement in mind, it will be interesting to see how it goes.

How nice! Any good freebies getting handed out?? Too bad Mousesavers won't be represented, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of other sites represented.

Well, that sounds intriguing! Is it a secret?

Thanks for all the info Mickey!

Right now, yes, it is a secret. We are still figuring out when and where and if it will work, but it should be pretty cool if we can pull it off. We had a fantastic one set up, but we will have to wait until next year to pull it off. We have some testing that we will be doing this year for it before it is ready for the public.

Our event this year is not DC related, more Disney related I guess. I hope to have more information by the middle of October for you.

Re: Mousefest 2005

I was at WDW last year but didn't attend any of the MF events. How does it work. Do all of the websites do things together or does each site have different plans? I see on the MF site that they have a cruise and days set at the park. They just split up at that point?

Each website sets up their own events, then they are free to open them up to everyone if they choose. Anything you see listed on that Mousefest calendar is open to everyone. With the exception of those few things that are noted, everything is free.

There's a group doing the land/sea package for Mousefest too, while some will remain at WDW.
