Lessons from Free Dining

We got back yesterday from our trip to disney where we used our free dining plan with much delight. Here are a few tips.

1. Save your receipts. At the bottom it will tell you how many of that meal type you have left on the plan. (You will forget :)

2. Use your snacks for popcorn and ice cream, rather than sodas, as they are more expensive. Also note that powerade is NOT on the snack plan.

3. If you are traveling with children under 10, they do not always make you order from the kids menu at CS restaurants. My daughter is 9. Uncrustable PB sandwiches and cold chicken with veggies is not exactly what she wants for lunch. Only one place in MGM FORCED us to order off the child's menu. When I asked how was I able to order off of the adult menu the previous 3 times, I was told that the CS meals are not designated as child or adult. So, as one woman in line who had previously experienced the same issues told me, if you want to get around this, split up the adults in your group and order the adult portions for your kids. Normally I would think this is somewhat wrong to do, but they charge the same price for the meals as the adult in the package prices and often only have 1 or 2 choices for the kids. Also, they will not let you pay the difference between a child meal and adult meal price to upgrade it.

4. The cashiers have total lattitude with what is included in the meal plan at a CS restaurant. We ordered at Pecos Bills and were actually given four sodas instead of 3, even though we are a party of 3. The receipt showed 4 sodas and that our meal plan was used. When I asked how that was possible, the cashier quietly told me that a cashier can key in pretty much anything and mark it as a CS meal.

So, good luck and enjoy the free food :)
