Re: Should WDW Do More For Resort Guests?

I know I've been away for several months, but when did it become okay to not accept an apology?

As to perks for resort guests. I think there are many perks now, not just free parking and transportation. For me it is the 24/7 Disney magic!

Welcome back, it's good to see you. It's not always like this, DC is still a great place most days.

Hey all, I REALLY appreciate all the supportive comments. But I'm still hoping this was a just a little misunderstanding.

So perhaps we can get back on topic...picking on EJ.

Re: Should WDW Do More For Resort Guests?

I almost forgot to post a few thoughts about AP perks -- Heck yeah, EMH would be a terrific perk that wouldn't make anybody else feel bad! It is a perfect solution. But I do agree with the once-you-are-through-the-gate mentality, where WDW treats everyone as a valued guest. Sometimes we don't have much money to spend on a trip, and other times we really splurge -- we go from staying off-site and using old passes to staying in a suite at BW and painting the town red! And we have never, ever had any different treatment in the parks!
P.S. People who do stay onsite get lots of perks that others don't -- door-to-door transportation, magical theming, Mickey soap, Goofy wake-up calls, etc...

Re: Should WDW Do More For Resort Guests?

I don't really need any extra perks to stay on property at WDW. Isn't it great just the way it is??? I'm always afraid that when they cahnge things to make them BETTER they sometimes make them worse instead. [Like Mr Toad's Wild Ride and others.] I think the evening EMH are enough and MAYBe adding FP scheduling from the room in the future.

I like the evening EMH, mainly because it filters people away from the morning EMH!

But looking at perks to resort guests. Consider this slippery slope. Shouldn't people staying in moderates get a few more park perks than those staying in value resorts? What about those shelling out the big $$ for Grand Floridian? Shouldn't they get a little bit more than those staying at Wilderness Lodge--they pay more.

My point is Disney has built itself on hospitality. Once you begin classifying guests into sub-groups, you begin to favor one set over another. I can't believe Walt would have wanted one small child treated any differently than another based on where a family choose to stay.

Re: Should WDW Do More For Resort Guests?

I don't like the idea of unlimited fast passes (and I'm an on-property kind of guest). I do like the idea of a fast-pass kiosk or something that could be done from the resort prior to getting to a park.

Re: Should WDW Do More For Resort Guests?

That's kind of what I meant. Calling for a FP from the room at a scheduled time if it is available. Say I was going to EPCOT. I wanted to do Soarin in the early PM, around 2 or 3 oclock. It would be cool to be able to call for that fast pass from the roon before I left. That way I would'nt have to hike over there from the back entrance ASAP when I arrived. I could browse World Showcase and go to the Land when my FP was due. Just an idea!

Now, that's not a bad perk that I feel wouldn't make non-resort guests "second class" guests.
