water parks
We are going for 7 days with 3 kids...ages 2, almost 5, and 12 1/2. We are pondering if we should fit in a trip to one or both of the water parks; Typhoon Lagoon and/or Blizzard Beach. All of our kids are big water buffs (we live near a beach), so this would be something I think they would like. Hubby and I just aren't sure if there is too much Disney inside the theme parks to see that week or if this would be a welcome change from the regualr parks. What do you think? I would love to try out both, but not sure if time will allow; is there a favorite out of the two?
Also, we have just plan hopper passes with our package currently but pondering whether we should call and have them upgrade to the park hopper plus tickets to include some visits to the water parks.... ![]() |

Re: water parks
If you plan on making a trip to the water parks, definitely look at getting the passes upgraded.
Personally, I LOVE the water parks - both of them. Which one I choose depends on what kind of day I'm looking for. ![]() Typhoon Lagoon is better if you're looking for a slightly more laid-back experience. Their slides are not as intense, and there is a lot more shade/foliage. Blizzard Beach has bigger, more intense slides, and lots of hot pavement. They're really both worth a trip in my opinion!!

Re: water parks
While both parks are great, I tend to lean towards TL. I think it has a little more to offer younger kids while still providing lots of thrills for older ones. Crush n'Gusher can't be missed, it's so much fun. TL also has the wave pool and sand for little ones to dig in.
getting some "down time" from the parks is important, I agree, we do the same thing. One thing I noticed it's a very early night for the kids the day we visit a water park, they are wiped out! |

Re: water parks
IN vaca's for about a week, I'd just go to one of the water parks. This is coming from a beach bum who loves the water too! The reason for this is there is soo much to do in the parks that one day at a water park is a good retreat between days. Also there are all kinds of areas in each park to play in, I mean I'm 26 and I still play in the fountains. Well I'll use my son as an excuse now, but thats beside the point.
By saying that I choose TL as opposed to BB, if your kids were a little older then I'd say BB. TL has a broad range of things to do and other have brought up good points. The vegetation has grown up and provides more shade, its larger which means a larger lazy river, and there is the new crush n gusher, which I plan on riding sometime in the future.

Re: water parks
I LOVE Typhoon Lagoon. If you were going to only do one waterpark IMO TL would definately be the one! Blizzard Beach always seem hotter to me and more uncomfortable, it could be b/c the park is REALLY white and tends to be REALLY reflective in the sun. Having sensitive eyes and skin it never appealed to me at all. Typhoon lagoon is very lush, BIG, and has A LOT of fun options for the WHOLE family.

Re: water parks
I've never been to TL, but I love BB! It's so much fun. The big family tube ride is my favorite - Teamboat Springs. Don't miss it! :) Also they have the Ski Patrol Training Camp where the kids can do a bunch of stuff... they have a kind of obstacle course, a zip line (I think that's what you call it... where you hold onto the bars and ride the line down..), and some smaller slides. There's also Tike's Peak for the youngest ones.
Doing both will be great!! They're so different and they both have so much to do. They're part of the Disney experience too - so you wouldn't be missing out. You'd be seeing more! :)

Re: water parks
I have been to both water parks and I prefer BB.The wave pool is smaller. I like the gentle rolling waves as opposed to TL wave pool with the giant waves.I also love Castaway Creek. My vote would be Blizzard Beach. Just my opinion.

Re: water parks
We have been to both & I prefer BB, not sure why. Teamboat Springs is GREAT! So is Castaway Creek.
I'm wondering if anyone knows if they have any new dates in October for the extra magic hours in the water parks? All I see now is September dates, but we'll be there more days in October (5).

Re: water parks
I just checked the WDW web site. There are still no EMH's for October. We will be there in October and are planning a day at TL. I did see that BB will be closed on October 23rd thru all of November.

Re: water parks
We've been to both several times and prefer TL over BB. BB I think has an awesome theme but we did not care for the slides as much. TL is very laid back and we like the slides better.
If you can make the time, definately go to one of them. They are loaded with Disney fun too.
