Food & Wine Festival - when to go?

My parents really want to go for the F&WF this year. The weekend of Sept. 30 would work out best for us, but that's the first day it starts. We've never been that early before - does it get really crowded since it's the first day? Or does it not matter when you go? We don't really mind missing rides if it's crowded, we just want to make sure we get to try all the food & wine we want, lol. Any thoughts?

Believe it or not, despite the popularity of the F&WF the park(s) are not full AT ALL. Anytime during October should be great.

You should be fine that first weekend, that is when I am going and I have made a personal call to WDW to make sure they empty the parks when I am going through (security and all). Opening day isn't any different that any other day, they don't do anything special, and honestly, I don't think it brings in a lot of people just for the festival. I would definitely go as early as possible, the last two weeks of October are just about sold out at all the resorts.

If I send you a shiny new nickel can you ask them to do that for me in October?

Yikes! That doesn't look good for us then. We will be there for the last week of the event, I hope the resorts aren't sold out when we go

You are absolutely right Leslie. Don't worry Dad and I will be waiting for you to arrive.
Infact, I don't think there is a bad time to go to the Food & Wine Festival. JOANN
