What advice to you give 1st timers that aren't DCers?
What advice do you give to your friends that know you may be a Disney 'expert' due to your many trips to WDW?
I have a friend that is going in January. I've given her my guide book with outlines but am looking for other suggestions. They are staying at AS-Mu and are travelling w/ friends. Kids are aged 10, 8, 5 and 3. Thanks for any advice. I will pass on!

Point them to the following:
Book: The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. Internet: www.disneycentral.com www.allearsnet.com www.mousesavers.com After that, you should step back and let them plan their own trip. Of course, answer any specific questions they ask, but otherwise avoid the mistake of being the Disney "expert." Anything more may come back to haunt you if their trip isn't magical.

Re: What advice to you give 1st timers that aren't DCers?
Tell them how to use fastpass properly and closely checking times. Nothing worse than using your available pass then realize that you can't get back at the appointed hour, then going to you next thing and finding that you could use a fast pass but...

Perhaps the best thing would be to tell them what you usually avoid.

Re: What advice to you give 1st timers that aren't DCers?
It's such a tough call.
You could tell a first timer - "don't miss Illuminations" - and if not planned properly they could end up in a huge crowd with no view and not be to happy. I prefer to do just what you did with maybe a few restruant recommendations. I think the best way for anyone to have a "magical" vacation is to do their own research, and if they are really into it all should work out great.

Tell them to use the Fast Passes!!! Tell them also along with the maps to the parks make sure they pick up the schedule of events that lists parade and show times and other activities. You can plan your days a little better that way. And I would also just remind them if they want to havr a meal with any characters they shoul double check their ADRs.

PLAN PLAN PLAN EACH DAY BUT ARRIVE READY TO BE FLEXIBLE!
... and don't forget to tell them to use rope drop, FP and evening hours appropriately to get the most action at the parks!

Disneycentral is a must! And even when they are not planning a trip...they can get excited for the rest of us...and get ideas on their future trips!!

Re: What advice to you give 1st timers that aren't DCers?
Get them into a Character Breakfast. All children want to meet the gang.
After that WDW is thier oyster. I agree with Cavedude - lettehm plan around the interests of their group. This aould apply to which breakfast they have. My gang wants to eat at the Crystal Palace every time. It is non negotiable (if I know what is good for me.)

Re: What advice to you give 1st timers that aren't DCers?
I'd talk them into planning some meals and making the ADR's as soon as it's time. Including the ones that will help them view the special events easier.
I know our biggest disappointment our first time was not being able to get into places we wanted to eat, and not being able to view the parades and nighttime events due to crowds. Oh yeah...and FP too. Most newbies don't try it cuz they don't uderstand it.
