Re: To hop, or not to hop?

Yes, I park hop. With the crowds being so low in value season, I tend to get everything done that I want to by lunch time or so assuming I am there at rope drop which I always am. I go back to my resort, take a break and then hit another park in the evening most of the time.

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

it is nice to hop with small kids, but I wouldn't go crazy with hopping. You can spend a lot of time using transportation that you could use in a park. We usually use it to go somewhere else for dinner, etc. It works well with small children. Also, we love to go to the MK and Hop on the monorail to Epcot for a meal. It is a nice relaxing ride during the day and it is not crowded (ask to sit up front!!!). Have a good trip!

Hop Hop Hop! It is great fun. We do it everytime we visit. It helps on those days when you need to be flexible, and when crowds turn out differently than expected.

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

I recommend hopping if possible. It's nice to go to MK for fireworks after a day at AK, or to lunch at Epcot after a morning at MGM....not feeling "stuck" at one park.

(Like being "stuck" at a Disney park is such a horrible fate!)

We do a lot of hopping too. It's nice if the kids are getting bored somewhere then we could always go back to MK to "perk" them back up!

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

BTW, where are you staying? How much we hop often depends on where we stay. I think it is easier to hop from some of the deluxe resorts, particularly the Epcot resorts. We have certainly hopped, however, from POFQ and it was fine. We always at least keep the hop option ("hop op?"); there is always a strong possibility our kids want to go back to MK in the afternoon/evening.

I'm a hopper. I love being able to go wherever I want whenever I want to. :)

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

I find if I don't have the hopper tickets I obsess about hopping, so I buy them even if I don't necessarily plan to hop. It's the freedom to decide on the spur of the moment to hop parks that I like. That way if the crowd levels get a bit much at one park or it rains or something I can change parks.

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

Looks like I'm the only non-hopper here! I still go on Disney trips with my mom (I'm 21...and looks like this will be my last free trip!) so she calls most of the shots. We don't hop. Due to time we can get off of work and school, we are only in Orlando for 5 or 6 days. That's just enough time for us to have 3 days to visit our 3 favorite disney parks, visit Universal, and see some of our family. If we were going to spend 5plus days just visiting Disney parks, we would definitely get the hopper. But...we only have 3 days for the disney parks...and I can't imagine getting done with MK, Epcot, or AK in less than a whole day! Plus, it seems like we would waste time with the transportation thing if we hopped.

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

We hop all the time. Like everyone else said, it's nice if the parks are little more busy than planned. What we do a lot of times is visit one park in the morning, go back to the hotel and rest or get pool time and then go to another park in the evening. It does give more flexibility in planning too.

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

We are hoppers all the way. That way, if it is too crowded in one area(although we go in January, and it is hard to find a "too crowded" area, we can go onto the next. It is also nice to just get a change of scenery sometimes. We will spend the day at a park and then decide to go to dinner in another park. I'm going for it again this year, for sure!

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

I vote for hopping... the flexibility makes it worth the price. We always are at a park for rope drop ...leave at lunchtime to eat, rest, pool, etc. then we go back for "seconds" somewhere else!

Re: To hop, or not to hop?

I haven't hopped. I was price comparing, and I'm trying to justify and extra $100 to add hopping to our January tickets (for our imaginary trip I'm still planning).

No. Not worth the extra money, Cavey, and not with 14 whole days.

14 days is only if a free dining plan comes around.
