WDW Recycling?

Maybe some of you CMs or frequent visitors can answer this.

I got bored today and was making up a list of everything to pack. (Sad really, cause my trip's in May... ) We're VERY into recycling anything possible. We don't drink tap water, so we get bottled water.

At WDW (parks and resorts), do they sort the garbage and get the recyclables? Or does it all just go to the dump? I know they're very involved in different environmental programs, so I would assume they do. But I'm not sure.

If they don't recycle, I'll just bring along a collapsable milk crate and keep in the back of the truck. Put our bottles in there as we return to the room. (Although carrying them around all day doesn't sound fun.) Might sound odd, but I just can't handle throwing away so many bottles. I'd feel so guilty.

Re: WDW Recycling?

Yes, they do recycle. That is very obvious mostly at the AK park. The napkins, benches etc...all recycled. WDW is totally into the recycling. I read that the benches at the AK park are made from plastic bottles.....I think I read that in one of my trivia books...the uniforms the casy members wear...also recycled materials....napkins..same thing. I think it's awesome! I recycle everything at home and at work. The township my store is in doesn't require my store to recycle, but I do it anyway.

Re: WDW Recycling?

Thank you Dana! I was hoping they do - all that stuff being thrown away... it's too much to send it all to the dump.

I've never been to AK, so I'll have to check that out next time.

Re: WDW Recycling?

You might have to walk around for a while until you find a recycle bin.

They have trash cans all over the place, but only a few recycle bins. I always hold on to my bottle until I find one - usually in just a few minutes.

It's really cool. They are all about the environment. I love that!

Re: WDW Recycling?

On our underground tour this summer they told us that they actually go through the regular trash cans as well because of the amount of recyclables thrown in there. Not a job I want but a much needed one....

Oh! That's so wonderful!

Thanks guys. Piece of mind to know that no matter where people throw their items, what can be, will be recycled.

Me neither! You'd think they'd label them as such.

I have to admit that I had no idea that's why there were two either... They really should label them, or add a note about it to the little card that tells you about hanging up your towels....

Re: WDW Recycling?

In our room at POR they had a separate waste basket for recyclables. And it was labled! We loved that because we are very much into recycling as well.
