Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

We are going to Disney 11/5-11/10. We are staying onsite and have the 5 day MYW base ticket (we may add a sixth day to it). We are trying to decide if it is worth the extra money to add park hopping. I say "yes" because when the other parks close, we can hop on over to MK to finish the evening (especially on Magic Hour day). We can also be free to skip around and catch firework displays.

Give me your best argument either for or against!!

I like to park hop. Go to MK and its too crowded hop over to Epcot and hit TT or MS then over to MGM for ToT. It really let's you do whatever you like.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

I used to be a park-a-day person.

But.

If you are staying for that long, it's entirely possible you may want to do some of one park one day, and then rest, and go to another park in the afternoon.

If you are getting the dining plan (which seems like a VERY good deal) then, I think it would be even MORE worth it, as you may have ADRs in a restaurant in a different park than normal.

The only way it WOULDNT be worth it is if the money to purchase them will set you back from having some other sort of fun (character dinner, souvenirs, etc)

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

I would add the option for a couple of reasons
1- you are going at time of year when it is traditionally not very crowded, say you get up early in the am and go to MGM and by 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon you have done/seen everything you want to do. Now what do you do? If you have the hopper option you can go to another park.
2. Dinning options- there are some many great places to eat at Epcot, after enjoying a day at AK or MK or MGM, have a great dinner at EPCOT and go see illuminations!
3 On you last day there you want to have the option of going and doing your favorites one last time.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

When you are staying on site park hopping is "almost" a must.

I'm sure you'll find yourselves hopping earlier in the day than you had planned to.

There is nothing like a nice morning at the MK, a break at your resort, then to be able to head to another park for some more attractons and dinner.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

We always park hop. We spend the morning at one park (usually whichever one has early entry) then when it gets crowded we go back to the resort for a swim/rest and recharge for an evening at another park.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

Yes, it's worth it to add park hoppping. It's nice to have other options instead of being stuck in one park. What if it's crowded at the park you decided to go to and you want to go to another park? You are stuck. What if after dinner you would like to go see illuminations or a night show in a different park? You are stuck. I definately think the freedom and flexibility that the park hopping allows you is worth the extra money. You have more options that way.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

I vote for hopping for all the above reasons! Also, you can go to morning EMH and take atvantage of no lines then hop over to another park when it starts to get busy.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

I am a die-hard hopper. It is so nice to be able to go and eat where you want and see what you want. If it is too crowded in one park, go to another and go back to the other one another day! Go for hopping!!!

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

It is only 35.00 and definately worth it. This is what I tell my guests when they ask me why they should upgrade, some of these has already been mentioned.

1) AK closes at 5:00 this time of year, so you can go to a different park after they close.
2) If it starts raining, you can hop over to a different park that has more attractions that are inside.
3) If you get into MK one day and discover that it is just WAY to crowded to do anything, you can hop over to a less crowded park.
4) If you are in MK and decide that you just want a break from all the madness, you can hop over to Epcot and leasurely enjoy the world showcase.
5) Epcot is the best park for restaurants. You can hop over there one evening just for dinner, and stay for Illuminations.
6) You only have to pay for parking once a day, so it will not be any extra for parking.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

Going against the flow....

We never park hop. I mean why spend up to an hour of your day on buses and monorails when you can be doing stuff in the parks? Of course, if you're going back to your resort mid-day to rest, that argument is mute. But again, why spend and extra $140 for a family of 4 just to switch parks mid-stream.

The ONLY reason I would personally add the hopper would be to have more chances to dine at Epcot Restaurants.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

I vote to hop. My first adult trip was a non hopping, Epcot and AK. (Not alot of fun) Last trip was 4 parks in 4 days. (Again not alot of fun, way to stressfull).

This trip 7 day park hoppers (if wilma stays away), we are going anywhere at anytime.

Re: Convince me to upgrade to park hopper

I say keep your options open. We got hoppers, and I almost expect that we *won't* use them. But it's nice to know that we've got the freedom to do so if we want to!

I am convinced!!! Dh came home from work this morning and said, "I've been thinking we should really get this park hopper.", LOL. It sounds like it would be beneficial to us. We certainly don't plan to be annual visitors to Disney (we are not big on theme parks, LOL). The kids may be teenagers before we return. We'd better get the flexibility and be able to hop around and see the things we really want to see.

Thanks again
Kathleen
