Walk Around the World Brick......

Does anyone know anything about these bricks. We bought ours 11 years ago, the day they went on sale, and the day we got engaged there. We were told that they are guaranteed for 10 years, well on this past trip, we were happy to see it still there and replaced with a new one cleaner one. Our brick is right next to the marble circle by the main gate. They all got mangled when they had the temporary Security tents there, in fact our was cover by a portable AC unit at one point But they moved it so we could see it.

I would hate to see this dissapear, we take our childrens picture on it every trip

Cute picture! Why do they only guarantee them for 10 years?

Re: Walk Around the World Brick......

Not sure why they put a limit on the dates, probably to protect themselves. They said they could move them after ten years. maybe they up the price and sell more in the front area?? I think they are still for sale, the goal was to put them all the way around Bay Lake. A far walk IMO.

Re: Walk Around the World Brick......

how do you go about buying one? Everytime we walk by there, my BF says how much he wants to have a brick for us. I figured it was only something they did when they first opened. Do you go to guest relations to inquire??

Re: Walk Around the World Brick......

It started in 1994, the year we bought ours. Back then you could only have your names and states - not special events like just engaged etc. Now I see they sell differedt styles of bricks and marble bricks, Our was $90 back then. I would check with Guest relations or try

memberservices@wdw.twdc.com

Back then they had special booths set-up selling them, you get a nice certificate also. I always want to pry mine out, like on I Love Lucy, to bring home

Here is the answer I recieved 06/01:

Thank you for the e-mail. Unfortunately, the Walt Disney World Walk
Around the World program has been discontinued and the bricks are no
longer available. The current memorial program is "Leave a Legacy" at
Epcot. For more information, you may contact them directly via e-mail at
wdw.ec.legacy@disney.com. We are very sorry we could not assist you with
this request.

Re: Walk Around the World Brick......

Hey Mr.Disneyfan1! I bought mine in '94 also and it was still there this past August when we went. Mine is also right next to the marble circle by the front gate on the right side. Maybe we're neighbors? I did notice sometimes mine looked cleaner than others. This past vacation it looked like it was pressure washed or something. If I can find a picture I will post mine too.

Re: Walk Around the World Brick......

COOL! Mine is number E407. And the only reason I remember that, is because of the area code there is 407....lol
Hope it last forever, but I just bit the bullet and wrote to ask.....

Re: Walk Around the World Brick......

OK, I just found a picture of mine. My number is E046, and says '94 in the Mickey ears. Although, I really don't understand the numbering process b/c the brick next to mine in the picture says E066, and the one on the other side says E018? Weird, no wonder I can never find mine easily when I go!!! Anyway, let me know if you get any feedback about how long they might be around for? Hopefully a long time!

I also agree with you on the "Leave A Legacy" we did it but I've never really bothered to find it since. The tiles have worn down over the years and IMO it looks pretty crappy. Those are suppose to be around for 20 years!

Re: Walk Around the World Brick......

Oh, I have always wondered why some bricks were beautifully clean and the brick next to it would be dirty and old? I don't think they've ever replaced them with new ones? Did the path ever go "around bay lake," like they originally told us the path would in '94? I wonder how far it got?

This is the ONE thing that we want to do when we get to WDW, and the ONE thing that we forget to do!
ARRRGGGHHHH!

Next time for sure! I love the whole idea of these bricks, and I really do hope that they will be a permanent part of the park!
