Expedition Everest

Has anyone heard anything about when there might be some soft openings for Expedition Everest. I am crossing my fingers that it will be up and running in December for our trip. I havene't heard anything in a while, so I thought I would ask.

The last time I heard, there were rumors of soft opening possibilities in January/February. I hope they do it sooner and you guys get to try it.

Taken from a 10/20/05 conversation with Joe Rhode on EE:

"Finally. He did say that he was expecting to get internal people on the ride within a month and maybe, just maybe some guest previews around the end of the year, maybe Christmas. He was hopeful for that, but not sure."

Joe Rhode is the executive designer for Walt Disney Imagineering and lead designer of Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park.

The more and more I think about it, the less I see EE having a soft opening in December. Here's why: Christmas is the busiest time of the year here. There will be hundreds of thousands of people on property. EVERY SINGLE ROOM OF EVERY RESORT WILL BE TAKEN. With all of those people on property and word got out about EE having a soft opening, there would be too much chaos. Every single person would head for that ride and NOTHING else at DAK. They're having that same problem at Epcot with Soarin. Everyone is going to Soarin and nothing else, which is why the Cast Members at times are saying there's 3 hour wait when in reality it can be much less, just to encourage guests to come back at a later time and go do something else at Epcot.
If they do a soft opening before the end of the year, my bet is it'll be within the week before Christmas, when the parks are empty, and not resume again till the week of the new year when the parks are empty. Just a theory. I'm at DAK at least 2x a week working, so I'll know when it happens, and as soon as I've ridden it, well, ya'll will know!

We drove by the park on Saturday and you could see it.
It looks like a real snow-capped mountain now at least!

I CANNOT wait to go on this ride, I am so excited! Oooo, my countdown looks sooooo long!!! I can't wait to hear about it after the first DCer goes on it!!!!

Hey Rowdy, maybe you could just sneak a few of us in after hours and we could just go on it ourselves... you know, a little DC after-closing party. Nobody would ever have to know! Not even the park security! We could be quiet as mice!!!

I really hope they are testing in Dec. My DH really wants to ride Everest since he hauled a lot of the steel down there to build it.

My FIL is a CM at AK, and the last he heard was a soft opening in December, but nothing specific. He didn't know how early or late in the month it will be, but that's at least the latest he's hearde, sometime in December. I'll be there the first 12 days of December, so I sure hope it's during that time. Cross y'alls fingers.
