Disney reopens

After being shut down until early afternoon by the threat of Hurricane Wilma, the Magic Kingdown, Epcot and Downtown Disney all reopened by 2 p.m. Monday. Animal Kingdom and MGM remained closed Monday but all parks were expected to be operating normally on Tuesday.

Here's Disney's news release:

The Walt Disney World Resort safely withstood the wind and rain associated with Hurricane Wilma, maintaining power throughout the storm and housing tens of thousands of Guests in our resort hotels. The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Downtown Disney are now open. Prior to opening our parks, Disney Characters and Cast Members entertained thousands of our Guests in the dining areas of our resorts, and turned resort lobbies into activity centers for the children.

Yeah, Disney knows how to take care of their guests. My FIL works there and even though he normally works in the parks as a costumed character, he was in the resorts today.

Unfortunately no. They only get overtime like everyone else, if they reach over 40 hours, but it probably was a nice change for those CM's that normally work in the theme parks.

It's great to see that Disney took care of all the kids! I hope that all the animals at Animal kingdom got through the storm a-ok!

Thanks for the info Park Hopper. I'm glad they made it through the storm safely. That's so cool of Disney to entertain the guests at the resorts. It has to be so frustrating to miss out on a day of vacation because of ANOTHER hurricane. At least Disney did their best to help. I know we got caught up in Tropical Storm Bonnie / Hurricane Charlie last August. Luckily for us we only lost our first day in Orlando to the storm, which we hadn't planned on using as a park day anyway. The parks were up and running again on Sunday, and we were there. Again, thanks for the info.
