Re: Park Hopper's Excellent Christmas Day Parade Taping Adventure

Thanks for sharing all that. It was very interesting to hear about how that is done. You didn't mention however if you think you got on TV in one of those audience shots. Should we be looking for you?

At least now I know I never need to lament not being in the parade crowd.

BTW, the same goes for print media. Don't ever assume a magazine's picture isn't posed. Very few are truly candid.

It's really impossible to say if we'll make it on TV. We were center stage, only a few rows back, for much of the taping, but who knows how much of the footage actually will be used? And even when you think a camera is pointed in your direction, you can't tell how large an area is being filmed.

In addition to the hand-held cameras, there were two overhead cameras on mechanical booms that panned the performers and audience. I can't see how we wouldn't be in some of those shots, but it might just be the back of our heads. It'll be fun to find out.

Re: Park Hopper's Excellent Christmas Day Parade Taping Adventure

Thanks PH-this was an interesting experience to read about. I will be in front of TV (at the "out-laws" of course) watching the parade on Christmas Day! Once again, thanks for sharing this!

Re: Park Hopper's Excellent Christmas Day Parade Taping Adventure

I watched Regis & Kelly yesterday and they mentioned being at WDW over the weekend, but they said it was for a "meeting about the Christmas parade". I thought it was really corny that they acted like it wasn't already filmed!

Re: Park Hopper's Excellent Christmas Day Parade Taping Adventure

Reminds me of when I used to work as a still photographer for TV station and would shoot guests on set of 700 Club. Crummy little set looked a whole lot nicer on screen.

Sort of like when we do Make-A-Wish thing in radio station now - all from what amounts to an oversized closet and a computer now. Disc Jockey? No disc to jockey anymore.

We were at Universal couple of years ago and were asked to be in parade filming. Sounds like it was fortunate that we had flights to catch!
