Kids Nite Out

Thanks for all of your great replies to my post about going to Disney World with toddlers. Now I have another question for you. (although I'm not sure I'm posting it in the right spot.)

DH wants to go to Pleasure Island one night while we are there. He found out about "Kids Nite Out" babysitters who will come to your resort to watch the kids. We were going to put the kids down for bed and go out for a few hours.

Has anyone used this service? I feel strange about leaving my kids with a stranger in my hotel room. Can anyone share an experience with this company or another they think is good?

Thanks!

Re: Kids Nite Out

I would love to hear any suggestions to this question. Our youngest will be 17 months and our options are limited as well.

Re: Kids Nite Out

I only used the babysitting club, as my DS was older when we went to PI. But I can tell you I have heard nothing but rave reviews from the parents who have used the babysitting service.

Re: Kids Nite Out

I haven't heard anythign about this service in particular, but I do have a few experiences with in-room sitters. I have to say my kids have loved both that we have used, but they were older when we first did this - my youngest was just shy of 5.

I used one service in Tampa which we loved. The people at the agency were very helpful and understanding of my need to talk to the sitter a couple of weeks before the night we used them, so that I could be sure I felt compfortable. The sitter did call a couple of weeks ahead, and I felt very compfortable with the whole arrangement.

The service we used in Orlando - not so much. I can't remember the name, but it was recommended by the concierge at the Renaissance at Sea World. They assured me the sitter would call a few days early and there would be no problem of switching if I didn't feel compfortable - in fact they said that had NEVER happened. They kept assuring me she would call, and I didn't get a call until the day before. She said the service had only just given her our information. I did feel compfortable after talking with her, but did not like the way it had been handled and felt that if I had not liked her it would have been too late to arrange somethign else.

I would insist on getting a call from the sitter at least a week ahead of time, and if they have an issue with this, find another service. You need to be happy with the situation.

Re: Kids Nite Out

LAL -- my kids LOVE going to Neverland at the Poly. They take all ages, and the kids go into the lobby where they are sprinkled with pixie dust and then they literally climb through Wendy's bedroom window into Neverland, which is filled with movies, games, books, toys, characters, and a kid-sized buffet dinner! Later in the evening, they are given pillows and blankets and they lie down in the movie room, snoozing and watching the movie till their parents get back. Parents are given a beeper in case your child needs anything (they won't) -- and when you do come to get them, they don't want to leave! It is pricey, but SO WORTH IT!!!

Disney Web site says the children have to be at lest 4 years of age. Does the Neverland Club take kids under 4?

The only thing I have found so far is the In room baby-sitting service. Has anyone used this before. For our three kids it looks like it would cost @ $21 per hour with a 4 hour minimum and an $8 charge to cover the caregivers transportation.

Re: Kids Nite Out

We may have to spend $100 so that we can go out dancing one night at PI. Since our youngest is 17 months we would have to wait almost 3 years before we could use the Neverland Club and even that would be $100 for three kids. Taking in to consideration what the rest of the vacation is costing, it does not seem that bad. Don't get me wrong it is a lot of money, but for 1 night out with just my wife, I think it will be worth it.

Re: Kids Nite Out

Thanks everyone!

E&B's mom, That's a great idea. I'm going to call kids nite out and ask if I can get information about the person who will be babysitting and ask to speak to them ahead of time.

Cincy, I totally agree. It's expensive but we're on vacation and at home we never get a sitter. It's worth it.

I'd still love to hear from someone who has used this service so....

Thanks!
Lesley

Re: Kids Nite Out

I agree, that would probably have been what I would have spent if I had another kid. It is expensive, but that seems to be a pretty standard rate. We had to go to a wedding and a banquet both times we used the service, so we had no choice but to pay it. You just have to suck it up and build it into the cost of your trip.

Re: Kids Nite Out

I guess my kids were about 4 when we started taking them to Neverland Club.
